Jon Rahm Comes Clean on the ‘Mistakes’ Holding Him Back After LIV Golf Pro Struggled at the Masters

The 2025 Masters saw a past champion throwing his club in frustration after a poor drive on the 9th hole landed deep in the woods. Jon Rahm, visibly frustrated, dropped and kicked his club, nearly snapping it, before managing to save par on the hole. The round had a rocky start for Rahm, with bogeys on the 2nd, 4th, and 7th holes, leaving him tied for 76th place after 10 holes. Ultimately, the 2023 Masters champion’s struggles continued, and he missed the cut, but now it seems the golfer is over the loss and is ready to put himself out there again!

Speaking on the latest presser at the LIV Golf Korea, Rahm shared insights on what’s holding him back from securing a win this season. Despite being ranked second in the LIV Golf Individual standings with 94.36 points, Rahm acknowledges that he’s not doing everything right, citing small mistakes as a major obstacle. “You have to put yourself in a position to win, which I’ve done enough and I’m getting close enough. I‘m just not doing everything I need to do right”, he said.

He believes that a bit of luck also plays a role in winning, but ultimately, he feels like he’s playing well enough to win any week. “Sometimes you also need a little bit of luck in your favor — not that I haven’t been lucky. I just haven’t done myself any favors on the golf course, I would say it like that. Just enough small mistakes to put myself just a little too far to be able to win.”

Rahm expressed his desire to win, hoping to break his winless streak at the LIV Golf Korea event. He’s confident in his abilities, having put himself in a position to win several times, but tiny errors have prevented him from crossing the finish line first. His team, Legion XIII, is doing great, with two wins, and Rahm is eager to see a close race continue. Well, it’s true that Niemann has been on a roll in the 2025 season so far, winning three of the first six LIV Golf events, including the LIV Golf Mexico City tournament. This strong start has put him at the top of the Individual Championship standings, with Rahm hot on his heels.

Despite the challenge, Rahm doesn’t feel extra pressure, stating that his goal is to win every week. He anticipates a fun week of golf in Korea, weather permitting, and is looking forward to playing at the Jack Nicklaus Golf Club in Incheon. “I want to win. I hope my first win of the season comes this week as well. It looks like a fantastic golf course, and I can’t wait to play.”

Well, while the course is indeed fantastic, it is tough as well, as it runs over 7,470 yards from the tournament tees, making it inspiring and challenging, even for experienced golfers. But that is not the whole reason-

Jon Rahm isn’t going to have it easy in Korea

Jon Rahm’s bid for a victory in Korea has many roadblocks, starting with the formidable Iron Heads GC team, who view the LIV Golf Korea event as their “major”. Three team members, Captain Kevin Na, Yubin Jang, and Danny Lee, were born in Korea, with Lee hailing from Incheon, the site of the Jack Nicklaus Golf Club Korea. “Having LIV Golf held in my hometown, Incheon, it doesn’t get more special than this,” Lee said, expressing his excitement to compete alongside the world’s top players.

Na has long advocated for LIV Golf to play in South Korea, citing the sport’s growing popularity in the country. With nearly 17% of adults participating in golf, Na believes the league’s unique culture and gameplay will resonate with Korean fans, and you can catch all the action from the comfort of your home. “I’m thrilled to finally be able to show Korean fans the unique culture and gameplay that LIV Golf offers,” Na said. “LIV Golf is truly appealing to the younger generation.”

The Iron Heads hope to capitalize on the home advantage and enthusiastic fan support to secure their first-ever team title. Lee’s past victories, including the individual title in Tucson in 2023, add to the team’s confidence. “Having three players born in Korea on the same team and representing Asia makes this really meaningful,” Lee said, highlighting the significance of the event for the team and their fans.
