Different things make a team a successful unit. It’s not just talent but understanding between the players and sometimes off the ground. And the Bills have a player that may be going rogue. It’s just like a typical Hollywood movie plot where a character is working against his bosses and squad through his actions, not his words. It’s their RB James Cook entering the last year of his contract with the Bills. He recently did something that made people wonder about his intentions.
The Bills drafted him in the 2nd round (63rd overall) in the 2022 NFL Draft. His rookie 4-year $5.8 million deal is ending this year. After Josh Allen’s team didn’t sign any extension with him, the running back has gone into meltdown mode. He has listed his Orchard Park home on 17 Judith Drive at a $710k asking price. The timing just makes it look like a mutiny, though.

The sprawling property is spread over 0.54 acres and has 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and 2 partial bathrooms. The basement is also luxurious, with vinyl plank flooring, a large island, wet bar, & half bathroom. Backup generator, updated mechanics, 2.5 car garage, and a large shed. Even the photos showed the extravagant place.
The world map in the living room shone through, with James Cook photos, jerseys, and game balls adorning the different walls in the house. Even the kitchen looked spacious with cherry cabinetry, granite counters, tile backsplash, coffee station, and wine chiller. There’s a surprise too! RB’s elder brother Dalvin Cook owns the Minnesota LLC that bought the house in 2022.
The twist in this scenario is that he will not leave the property immediately. His future is still uncertain. This year, things will be interesting for him.
GM Brandon Beane unsure of deal to James Cook
The Bills’ GM, Brandon Beane, cleared the air about offering an extension to James Cook. He said, “Just because we don’t have James signed today doesn’t mean next year we still can’t get a deal done before he gets to free agency.” It’s clear. They will monitor his 2025 performance and then make up their minds. His talent is unmatched.
In 2024, James Cook led the league in rushing TDs (16) and named in the second consecutive Pro Bowl. But they locked horns over the deal. The RB wants his increased value, around $15 million deal. The Bills signed a massive extension with QB Josh Allen, $330 million for 6 years. But for the running back, the money he wants is bigger than the franchise tag ($13.8 million).
So, the front office is confused. But with this latest move, it appears he may not even allow them to watch him from close quarters in the upcoming season. So, a serious move that shows he’s leaving soon or just a power play in the hopes of forcing that contract extension? Leave your opinions in the comments below!
