Probably looking to make some good use of those gains, Mclngvale pledged seven figures to Houston men’s basketball players in a partnership through the NIL collective LinkingCoogs. Back then, the Cougars were the second-ranked team in the nation. They had come off of their first back-to-back Elite Eight appearances since the early 1980s.
In December 2022, Roberts benefitted again from a collective NIL deal after the Houston squad agreed to team-wide NIL deals with Daspit Law Firm. Both ‘Rivals’ and ‘247Sports’ listed Roberts as a 3-star recruit. During his senior year, he was named to TABC Class 6A All-State Team, and recognized as District 12-6A Most Valuable Player. He led the Grey Wolves to district championship with a 15-1 record and notably made 30 points in bi-district round of playoffs against Rockwall-Heath.
