The win on Saturday night also snapped the Nuggets’ nine-game winning streak thanks to a 123-100 win.
In his 4th game in his new threads, Luka Doncic scored 32 points in his best game by far with the Lakers. Three other stars not only scored in double digits but racked up more than 20 points each. LeBron James added 25 points, Austin Reaves scored 23 and Rui Hachimura contributed 21. It was their 3rd game after the All-Star break and now have won 2, that too back-to-back. Kevin Garnett highlighted the need to start the second half of the season strong.
“Anybody that can get a win streak going is it’s going to show. But yeah, give me the Lakers man, I think the Lakers got something to prove.” Interestingly, during the game, the Lakers never trailed in winning in Denver for the first time since April 10, 2022. Previously, they had lost 13 of their previous 14 against the Nuggets. The Celtics legend was already onboard the Doncic hype train, ever since the trade.

He even compared the 25-year-old to the greatest Laker of all time, the late, great Kobe Bryant.”Let me just say this, he’s more Kobe Bryant than LeBron James…Meaning that he’s going to take the last shot.” Kevin Garnett also believed the change in the scenario would benefit Doncic the most. “We’re about to get the best version of Luka and he’s about to be in a Lakers uniform doing it.”
If the win over the Nuggets is any indication, then the Lakers truly seem to be the contenders for the champions. So, KG must be happy as his prediction came through. And the Lakers fanbase would be hoping that the Celtics legend makes more of them in their favor.
