Kevin Harvick Dissects NASCAR Veteran’s Startling Kyle Larson Fumble That Ended in Hilarious Payback

NASCAR isn’t just about the thrills of racing and winning, sometimes it is also about grinning, especially when it comes to friendships that bring life to the sport. It started with good vibes, a sunny day at Kansas Speedway for Kyle Larson, but then came Clint Bowyer — in peak Clint Bowyer form — ready to toss it to Kyle something, only to fumble straight through the Kyle universe. Was it Busch? Was it Larson? Was it a NASCAR multiverse collapse?

Somewhere between Heartland Park, a brick car race, and a Lakeside detour, Bowyer chaotically scrambled his way through a live TV interview with his good buddy, Kyle Larson.

What followed was equal parts cringe and comedy — a broadcast blooper so beautifully Bowyer, it had Mike Joy practically crying with laughter and Kevin Harvick hyping it up as the “word of the week” like a proud dad with a flashcard. But if you ask us? It was perfection. This is the Clint content we live for.

During the Fox Sports prerace conversation on the radio ahead of the AdventHealth 400 race at the Kansas Speedway last week, Clint Bowyer, a former NASCAR Cup Series driver turned broadcaster, fumbled hilariously mistaking Kyle Larson as Kyle Busch, “How about you Kyle Busch, or Kyle Larson. Oh, this is going to be a good one already.” Although known for his vibrant personality and deep knowledge of the sport, humans are meant to make mistakes. But his close acquaintance, Larson did not let it slip, bringing in a whirlwind of chaos and bouts of laughter from Mike Joy and Kevin Harvick.

Kyle Larson answered back cunningly, saying, “Well, Jamie McMurray, I feel really good about our chances today. I love this track. Sun’s out, shining, surface should be slick. Hopefully, we can do a good job, keeping it up front all day and have a shot at the end,” earning a barrel of laughs from the co-hosts, while Bowyer, knowing full well about the implications of his mistake replied, “Alright buddy good luck out there, that’s what I get for interviewing friends on the air.”

The fun did not stop there. Kevin Harvick in the Happy Hour commented on how Clint has always been one of the most supportive and understanding host to everyone and the fumble may have led him to lose his train of thoughts as he continued to muddle up his words, “He was so embarrassed, because as much grief as Clint gets for being goofy and over the place, he cares, more than just about anybody I can think of and he wants to get everything that comes across correctly on the air and I cant tell you, how much a kick in the gut that one is for him to call one of his good buddies Kyle Busch, and then he continued to fumble and then he just said, ‘I should just had over to you the microphone’, because when you’re out there and that happens, it is so hard to get yourself back on track because you lose your train of thought when you know you messed it up that bad, I can’t even explain to you how hard it is to get yourself back in the right train of thought.”

Despite the chaos, Clint Bowyer is dearly regarded in the NASCAR world for his wit and dynamic demeanor in handling tough situations. We also see the healthy friendship that the drivers have with their fellow veterans as they continue to joke and laugh in tense circumstances on the track.

This isn’t the first time Bowyer has shown his humorous side. Back in 2012, while racing at Phoenix, Bowyer was wrecked late in the race by Jeff Gordon, and his reaction said it all. Bowyer didn’t just walk it off; he ran! In full racing gear, Clint Bowyer sprinted to Jeff Gordon’s hauler, looking as if he was an Olympic athlete determined to get the gold medal. It turned into a moment NASCAR fans would forever remember.

But Bowyer isn’t just about the funny moments. Making his entry into commentary, Bowyer had his preparation done. But that didn’t mean Bowyer was ready for the experience. He explained, “Going into the Daytona 500 in 2021, going to the meetings, I didn’t know what the blocks were. Pre-show, pre-race, coming in and out of commercials … all the pre-planning that makes a broadcast flow. So I took pages and pages of notes. Still, before the race I was freaking out. I was trying to figure out how to tie my tie. I forgot to eat lunch. And I left all my notes in the motor home. So I just had to wing it.”

Regardless of Bowyer’s slip-up, Kyle Larson had a wonderful weekend at Kansas.

Larson Clinches Victory at Kansas Speedway

Kyle Larson put on an absolute clinic at Kansas Speedway, dominating the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series AdventHealth 400 on Sunday. From the drop of the green flag, Larson owned the track—starting on the pole, leading a staggering 221 of 267 laps, and sweeping all three stages like it was just another Sunday drive. The win marked his third victory of the season and his third career triumph at Kansas, tying him with Dale Jarrett at 32 Cup Series wins. Larson kept his cool and held off a hard-charging Christopher Bell, who crossed the line just 0.712 seconds behind for his best Kansas finish. Ryan Blaney, Chase Briscoe, and Alex Bowman rounded out the top five, trying their best to catch a driver clearly in his element.

Larson also discussed the challenges he faced during the race, noting, “I was trying really hard to pace myself because that was our longest run of the day, and I had just been struggling at the end of the runs.” He expressed concern over a potential tire issue at the end of the final 49-lap green-flag run, where he had to manage his right-side tires, shrinking his advantage to Bell, saying, “I was still struggling, I don’t know if the right front was starting to wear a lot, or what, but I was starting to lose a lot of grip and then I was vibrating real bad, so I was afraid that a right rear or something would let go.”

Larson also hit a major milestone during the race—he eclipsed 10,000 career laps led, joining only Denny Hamlin and Kyle Busch in that elite club among active drivers. The win gave Hendrick Motorsports its 10th Kansas victory and pushed Chevrolet’s winning streak at the track to three straight. Meanwhile, Ford continued its Kansas dry spell, now at nine races and counting.

With another trophy in tow, Kyle Larson continues to prove he’s not just fast—he’s historically fast. Kansas Speedway may sit in the Heartland, but on Sunday, it belonged to Larson. As the rest of the field played catch-up, he reminded everyone why he’s a perennial championship threat and a master of mile-and-a-half magic. If you’re chasing Kyle this season, you’d better bring more than speed—you’ll need stamina, strategy, and maybe a little bit of luckLarson didn’t just win—he made a statement. Kansas, once again, is Larson Country.
