Kevin Holland Comes Clean on ‘Disrespecting’ Ex-UFC Champ Rampage Jackson With ‘45–70’ Remark

“Do you know what a 45-70 is?” Kevin Holland asked Quinton Jackson amid his appearance on the retired legend’s ‘JAXXON’ podcast. “No I don’t,” the former 205lbs champ admitted. “Okay then shut the f–k up,” Holland retorted rudely. The dual-weight class veteran, of course, was talking about the .45-70 rifle rounds, favored by hunters for their heavy bullet and ability to stop big game like bison and bear.

And ‘Rampage’ being ignorant of what it meant seems to have stuck in Holland’s craw for some reason. However, it seems things are not as they seem, as the whole thing is being misunderstood, according to ‘Trailblazer.’

“You know they keep talking about this .45-70 s–t, but all I was saying was 4-5 wins at 170 pounds and I’m the man again b—-es,” Holland jokingly told ‘Full Send’ before his UFC London clash against Gunnar Nelson. The Riverside native went on to win the fight in a surprising turn of events and claimed that the .45-70 thing was just a joke.

“Yeah, 4-5 wins at 170 pounds should make up for that good joke on I had on the Rampage podcast. But make no mistake about it, .45-70’s my favorite hunting rifle and I plan on going out, knocking some things with it right after this fight,” Holland said.

So it seems like we’ve got it all wrong. Holland calling out Jackson and challenging him to a fight in the same episode was apparently just ‘Trailblazer’ trying to be funny. But what was ‘Rampage’s reaction to Holland’s needling? Is he still mad at ‘Trailblazer’?

Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson reflects on heated podcast episode with Kevin Holland

Quinton Jackson is called ‘Rampage’ for a reason. According to the former UFC champion, when gets angry, he gets almost superhuman strength. A certified knockout artist, the PRIDE and UFC legend was scary in his prime. Jon Jones, for instance, couldn’t sleep for days leading up to his UFC 135 clash with Jackson. Moreover, he crawled to start the bout owing to the fear that he would get knocked out.

You may also know him from his clip of pulling a door off its hinges and absolutely destroying a door with his bare hands on season seven of ‘The Ultimate Fighter’. But credit to him, ‘Rampage’ kept his cool throughout the podcast despite Holland’s provocations. But it seems the MMA legend was thinking about doing something to shut up Holland. But eventually, ‘Trailblazer’ grew on Jackson.

“At the end of the podcast, I wasn’t mad at the kid. But right here at the time, when I got quiet; I had to think. I really had to think. This is one thing a lot of people didn’t see on the podcast, he came in with bad energy. I tried to come in for the bro hug and he pushed me away,” Jackson said. What do you think about Kevin Holland’s explanation for his .45-70 comments on the ‘JAXXON’ podcast?
