“To be honest with you, because I will be able to think it clearly, I would have done worse… I’m not going to sit here and tell you I would have done the same thing as he did. No, no. I would have thought it out properly. I would have done it, and I would have found a way for no one to figure out it was me. I would have done it. I would have done it where he looked at me for what he did to my child. I would have him look at me while I punished him. I would have done that.” Javier Mendez admitted bluntly during a conversation with Mohannad Azizah.
Nurmagomedov, as we said, also understood the reason why Velasquez took drastic measures. But would he have done the exact same thing that Javier Mendez claims he would have done? Well, the AKA head coach appears to have the former 155lbs juggernaut’s full support, who responded to Mendez’s statements by writing, “Real talk,” on his Instagram story.

The echoes of the support that Velasquez has been receiving appear to have reached the US president, Donald Trump. In fact, another one of the former heavyweight champion’s teammates has called for the 47th POTUS for help in this matter.
Luke Rockhold asks Donald Trump to ‘pardon’ Cain Velasquez
One of the oldest friends of Cain Velasquez, Luke Rockhold, seems to be in a mood just like the others since the ruling of the 5-year sentence. He mentioned how he feels the justice system has wronged the former UFC heavyweight champion, who has done charitable things in society, as he highlighted Velasquez’s visit to a children’s hospital. On that note, he’s called for Donald Trump’s help, which is something that even manager Ali Abdelaziz did a few months ago, asking to bring him out of prison, given the circumstances of Velasquez’s legal issues.
“He’s done his time. He’s proved that he’s not a threat to society. He’s done countless things. I’ve gone with him to a children’s hospital to visit kids and see the joy that he brings people,” Luke Rockhold told TMZ. “If there’s ever a time for President Trump to step in and serve a real pardon that makes all the sense in the world… our situation is somewhat justified.”
It’s certainly a tough time for Cain Velasquez’s family, given that they’ve already been suffering since 2022. But what do you have to say about Khabib, Mendez, and Rockhold’s comments about his prison time? Drop your comments below.
