Kirby Smart Opens Georgia Fall Camp Without Notable Transfer on Day One

Georgia Bulldogs fans must be looking forward to the fall camp. And Kirby Smart kept the energy alive. He came up with a message for his players. “The message is fresh because it’s a new team. When you have a new team, you have new ears and new guys. So I don’t think you have to worry about your message staying fresh when you have the turnover that you have. But, you’ve gotta keep your message fresh based on what’s changing in college football,” said the head coach. Now that the fall camp is here, the Bulldogs fans can smell something fishy.

Smart’s Georgia had a pretty rough transfer season. They ended up losing 18 players. But the Bulldogs’ head coach tried to mend the blows with the players he brought in to fill the space. Smart welcomed four transfers to the program following spring practice. As they missed the spring camp, July 31, the first day of the fall camp was meant to be their D day. But the fans’ eyes could not find this one notable transfer. That’s none other than transfer running back Josh McCray.

This came as a definite surprise. The 6-foot-1, 235-pound McCray, as Smart himself called is “a talented kid from a great high school program.” He transferred in from Illinois and was expected to show his power on the gridiron to be the perfect fit in Smart’s rush offense. But he was nowhere to be found during the 20-minute media viewing portion of the fall practice.

(This is a developing story…)
