Kyren Lacy‘s death was untimely! The fire went out too soon. And, Kenny Lacy’s tribute to his son, Kyren, on April 28, 2025, hit hard. It was raw, emotional, and real. Kyren, a rising star in the LSU program and a 2025 NFL Draft prospect, had been through a lot in his short life. He was struggling with financial hardship, facing legal troubles, and dealing with pressures only a few could understand. But when things became rough, there was one person who was always there, no matter what, i.e., Jayden Daniels.
On April 28, 2025, in a 30-second clip posted by @_MLFootball, Kenny Lacy laid it bare. He remarked, “All of the things I wanted to do as a father for my son. A lot of things that I couldn’t do financially. You, no matter what, no matter what.” Jayden didn’t just show up for Kyren on the field; he was there through the toughest moments. But his tragic death was a harsh reminder of the unseen battles that many young athletes tend to face.
After a volatile argument with a family member, Kyren fled, as he led the police on a chase before his car crashed in Spring, Texas. He was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, as a handgun was recovered at the scene.

Prior to his death, Kyren was also dealing with serious legal issues. This included a fatal car crash that killed an elderly Marine veteran in December 2024, as he faced charges of negligent homicide and reckless driving. And, facing the emotional trauma of it all, Kenny Lacy didn’t shy away from the hard truths in his public statements.
He had a special message for parents, urging them to “check on your kids’ mental health.” And, it came with a request not to brush off signs of distress. He added, “Don’t be cool with ‘I’m Alright, or I’m good’ when you know deep down something isn’t right.”
And in the midst of the pain, Kenny’s message wasn’t just more than about grief, it prompted action. He said, “This has to be the biggest pill our families have had to swallow… this will never get easier, but we’ll learn to live with it.” The tributes for Kyren poured in from LSU and his friends, especially from his close friend Jayden Daniels.
