Lexie Hull Finds Another Twin Sister as Fever Community Left “Confused” after Media Day

Indiana Fever’s social media is on fire. It would be a straight-up lie if we said more than half the new fans weren’t glued to their phones, watching every Caitlin Clark update like it’s the finale of a reality show. They want the fiery edits, the goofy behind-the-scenes chaos, training camp challenges, all of it—and the Fever admin is delivering. But amid all the hoopla, it was two media day videos featuring Lexie Hull and another Fever star that left the entire fanbase scratching their heads. Because for a hot second, nobody could figure out if it was one video or two. Spoiler alert: it was two.

So, before we get to that, let us remind you that the Fever is running it back with just five players from their 2024 roster: Aliyah Boston, Caitlin Clark, Kelsey Mitchell, Lexie Hull, and Damiris Dantas. The rest is a shiny stack of 10 new faces, pieced together from smart trades, clutch free agency moves, and a draft class that could easily be mistaken for a gold mine. Basically, it’s a whole new team.

We’ve all been hyping the front office for good reason. DeWanna Bonner. Natasha Howard. Sydney Colson. And, obviously, Sophie Cunningham. These names didn’t just fill the roster—they fixed every gap this team had. Need defense… Bonner’s got it. Lacking playoff grit…we have WNBA champions now.

Among all these pieces, Cunningham might be the most less-talked but crucial one. She’s gritty, vocal, feisty, and the exact kind of edge Indiana needed next to someone like Clark. Honestly, all 13 WNBA teams could’ve used her, but it’s the Fever who made the call while everyone else sat still.

If head coach Stephanie White taps into her full potential, Cunningham could genuinely be the swing factor in Indiana’s title hopes. Even if she doesn’t crack the starting five, with Clark and Kelsey Mitchell likely leading the backcourt, Sophie’s already being thrown into Sixth Person of the Year conversations.

But, fir now, that’s not why she’s trending. All it took was two videos from media day, placed one above the other on YouTube, of Hull and Cunningham. And boom, social media had a fielding day. Fans were confused. People legit thought it was the same person doing two different shoots. The resemblance was uncanny.

Now, we already know Lexie Hull has a real-life twin—Lacie Hull—who, by the way, just helped Fever star’s boyfriend, Will Matthiessen, plan engagement proposal. But now, the internet has crowned Cunningham as her new honorary twin. Who knew media day would turn into a doppelgänger mystery?

Fever fans can’t tell Lexie Hull and Sophie Cunningham apart

One fan kicked off the chaos by posting a screenshot with the caption, “for a split second i thought they posted the same video twice lmao.” And to be fair, at first glance, it really did look like that. If it wasn’t for the video titles, even more people would’ve been fooled because in both thumbnails, Hull and Cunningham are almost postured identically. Like some glitch in the Matrix-level stuff.

Another chimed in with, “It’s like Lexie has another twin….” We already know Lexie has an actual twin but now fans are convinced she’s got a court twin too. And while in the past, fans have teased that Clark and Lexie looked a little alike, this Cunningham situation is just next level. And Sophie’s case might just be stronger.

Then came the pop culture comments, because of course. One fan called them “Legally blondes,” and another added, “Barbie Doll twins.” And while a lot of that has to do with their similar blonde hair (because yes, there is that running stereotype that blondes all look alike), it goes beyond just hair color. Their body types are similar too—both tall, lean—which honestly makes the comparison feel a little too real. And it didn’t stop there.

Another fan pointed out, “Both played basketball with their sisters, on the same teams,” which, is also true. Lexie and her twin Lacie played together at Stanford from 2018 to 2022, winning the NCAA title in 2021 and becoming one of the most iconic sister duos in college hoops. After that, Lexie got picked No. 6 overall in the 2022 WNBA Draft by the Fever, while Lacie took a different path into e-commerce.

Meanwhile, Sophie’s older sister, Lindsey Cunningham Hudson, also played ball at Mizzou. The two sisters overlapped in college and have remained tight ever since. So Lexie and Sophie both grew up balling with their sisters. And then came the comment that really sums it all up: “I’m telling you! It’s gonna get confusing.” It might. Both Lexie and Sophie are likely to come off the bench for the Fever, meaning there could be plenty of moments where you’re doing double takes during the game wondering who’s who.

We didn’t ask for a new WNBA optical illusion, but we like it more than anything. So all in all, Fever fans just got another storyline to talk about. Let’s see if we get more of these twin moments once the season tips off.
