After the Mavs had the remarkable run to the NBA Finals last season, GM, Nico Harrison laid a challenge for the whole team. His target for himself was to keep the rotation guys intact and wanted “everybody to come back 10 to 15% better.” Luka Doncic surely came back some percentage better but in the weight column only. And that has now come to bite Doncic back or should we say it already has?
After his blockbuster trade to the Lakers, there has been no shortage of inside infos no matter how minute those are. One of them suggests the aftermath of the trade that has led to Harrison receiving silent treatment from the Slovenian. According to Brad Townsend of Dallas Morning News, Harrison left a text and phone message but Doncic didn’t respond to any of those. “My guess is he probably doesn’t want to talk to me,” the GM told Townsend.
And why would he? The summer’s biggest trade involving Karl-Anthony Towns also had a similar situation where the player had no idea about the move. But later the thriving Knicks star revealed that Timberwolves GM Tim Connelly personally went to meet him and tell him about the trade. The classy move was well received by the player’s family and current teammates who termed it a ‘gangsta move’. Mr Harrison probably wasn’t gangsta enough to do so.
This is a developing story…
