It has been a pretty slow offseason for the Los Angeles Lakers. Since LeBron James and Co.’s season came to an unexpected end in the first round of the playoffs, there has not been much to look forward to. However, one player remains the talk of the town, Luka Doncic. The Slovenian point guard has remained a hot topic of conversation for much of the regular season. Of course, this had a lot to do with his blockbuster move from the Dallas Mavericks. Now however, he has made it to the headlines for a different reason.
By now, we are all aware of the different reasons Mavs GM Nico Harrison gave for the trade. But one stood out among them all: his weight and conditioning issues. Not many believed that it was true despite Doncic struggled on the defensive end. In fact, even the Lakers’ HC JJ Redick pointed out that his team needed to be in better shape to compete for the title.
While he did not take any names, many believed it was a subtle jab at the point guard. Keeping that in mind, all eyes have been on Luka Doncic as a long offseason awaits him. Well, it seems as if a change is coming, and his better half has been helping him big time. Doncic’s fiancée, Anamaria Goltes, has been home prepping meals for the Slovenian star.

Goltes took to Instagram to showcase her contribution to the cause. She has been cooking meals for Doncic to help her get in better shape for the upcoming season. However, it’s not just her; Doncic also has been putting in work from his side. The 26-year-old has been lifting weights and putting in some extra work to help his conditioning. Not many noticed the difference until Sunday, when Doncic was courtside watching his former team, Real Madrid, compete against Coviran Granada. The Lakers’ hooper received a warm welcome from the Spanish giants as he was spotted sitting beside Real Madrid president, Florentino Perez.

It was then that the fans noticed how Doncic was looking a lot different, and in a good way. There was a visible difference in Luka’s appearance as his wife’s special diet and his efforts seem to be yielding spectacular results. This had the fans going bonkers!
“The league is trouble next season, Luka lookin slim asf.” A fan pointed out. Indeed, the LA star gave fans flashbacks of his early days in Dallas, where he was a slim youngster. The fan also set out a stern warning to the rest of the league after seeing this drastic change. However, he was not alone; many other fans also shared the thought.

They stated that the point guard was looking in great shape, something that has been given importance by the LA head coach, JJ Redick, during the offseason. It seems like Doncic has been working on his body and has a point to prove next season. Meanwhile, another user commented, “No beer belly,” taking a friendly shot at the Slovenian superstar.

We are all aware of how much of a debate his weight became, especially after his move to Southern California in February. Now, Doncic may have completely shut his critics with his latest appearance. “Luka Doncic, less than a month after the season ended. Looks good.” Another user stated. They pointed out how Doncic now looked in great shape to represent his country in this year’s European Championship to be held in Poland.
Moreover, another fan bestowed a new nickname on the former-Madrid star. “LUKA DONCIC aka Slim Doncic.” He stated after watching him courtside in Real Madrid’s latest matchup. It’s great seeing fans appreciate Luka Doncic’s efforts during the offseason. Especially after he was given a lot of stick for his shape as the Lakers crashed out of the postseason earlier than expected.
However, there’s still a long way to go for the Lakers’ point guard, and it will be interesting to see how he and the Lakers fare next term.
