The price you have to pay for being a future Hall of Famer is too much for some. And when you were the face of the most blockbuster trade of all time, even more so. To hide from the sorrows of the season, Luka Doncic looks to the small things of life to find some content. That, for him, is fishing. But when it is combined with the release of his new shoe, it brings a whole new level of excitement.
Back when he was a Maverick, Doncic shot the release of his new shoeline, Luka 4 PF Bloodline. It was a new rendition of the Jordan Brand. According to Nike’s website, “The Luka 4 is a performance silhouette that leverages the best of Jordan Brand basketball innovation to power Luka Dončić’s game, advance his greatness, and inspire young athletes the world over, from Luka’s native Slovenia to his new home in Los Angeles.”
The public finally got a look at the Luka 4s, just not the way you’d expect. Doncic’s Blancos teammate Sergio Llull gave us an exclusive preview, combining it with what Luka loves most – fishing. He titled an Instagram story saying, “Las Luka 4 “gone fishing” A ver si pesco algun triple double Gracias hermanito @lukadoncic,” which basically translates to “The Luka 4 “gone fishing”, let’s see if I can catch a triple double. Thanks, bro.” But it was the way he revealed the Luka 4s, burying it under two fish vacuum-sealed in a plastic baggie, that got Luka into stitches.

Priced at a hefty $130 USD, it can be an asset for anyone. And that’s what it’s done for Sergio Llull. The Lakers star is entering his prime at the perfect time. It’s when he can really make a name for himself in the business world. And there’s no better way to do that than having your own sneakers under the Jordan Brand. But will his prime coincide with the Lakers’ timeline to get that elusive 18th championship?
Luka Doncic’s Lakers future still uncertain
There’s a real paradox present in his contract situation. He signed in February and has picked up right where he left off at the Crypto.com Arena. It’s reported that his extension at the Lakers could be a just over $228.6 million, through the end of the 2029-30 NBA season. But doesn’t this ring bells about his situation at the Mavericks? Even in Dallas, he was all set to sign a five-year, $345.3 million deal in July. And he ended up in the blockbuster trade that saw Anthony Davis go the other way. So his past is the best way to talk about his future – as uncertain as it gets.
“I didn’t think about it yet,” he told reporters after the Game 5 loss to the Wolves. “I’ve been focused on basketball. So obviously, this is the time now to think about everything.” Of course, his full concentration would have gone to getting the Lakers to the WCF. But after that failed in 5 games itself, this is his time to put his foot down. What does the future hold for the Slovenian? We still don’t know. And we might go a while before anything gets confirmed.
Regardless of the future, Luka Doncic is a big-money name. And his sneakers are the embodiment of that. Priced at a whopping $130 USD, it’s bound to be a huge financial asset. For Sergio Llull, who’s earning just €2.7 million per year, it’s a big deal. And he has Luka Doncic to thank for it.
