The Miami Marlins are in all sorts of trouble right now! Neither are they able to create a significant impact in terms of performance on the field, nor did they manage to gain the desired attendance at the stadium they were seeking. Even the exhibition barnstorming baseball team, the Savannah Bananas, have a better attendance record at Miami than the Marlins. So, what’s the main problem all about?
Well, the main problem lies in the low attendance during the Miami Marlins’ games, which indicates a lack of interest among the fans to watch the games. The reason? The Miami Marlins have been the first team in Major League Baseball to manage 20+ strikeouts, leaving 15 runners on base while committing multiple errors and even failing to hit a single home run. But that’s just not enough for the Marlins’ failures!
The Marlins fared very poorly in terms of stadium attendance when compared to the Savannah Bananas. While the Bananas’ tickets were sold out in consecutive years, the Marlins were down below, holding the last spot or second to last in the National League. It’s really concerning for a major league team to have such lower attendance numbers that too against an exhibition baseball team, which sold 32000 tickets on each day.
Savannah Bananas sold out back to back nights in Miami (36,000 x 2)
The Marlins have been last or second to last in the NL in attendance every year since 1999 except 3 times. (One was 2020)

But it’s the Miami Marlins to blame for, due to their poor performance; however, Miami being an event town, any regular-season baseball game isn’t enough to draw a large number of audiences to the stadium. However, not just the games that were played in the stadium, with the Marlins failing miserably, another issue is the poor ownership group and management handling the public relations of the team.
Due to this, the average attendance at the stadium for the Marlins has dropped by approximately 960 for every game as compared to 2023. Furthermore, their second worst record in the majors despite being postseason qualifiers earlier also has put the last nail in the coffin. However, the Miami Marlins are finding ways to tackle the decline in numbers at the stadium. But how?
The Marlins are looking to find solutions to the low attendance problem
While even an exhibition baseball team is making heads turn with their game that the Miami Marlins are failing to do, ever wondered what they can do? Well, the Marlins should look forward to spending more money on players and winning a World Series title. They haven’t won a World Series title since 2003, and thus, to acquire the attention of fans, they need to show what they are capable of. But that’s not the only way!
The former Marlins’ manager Jeffrey Loria is also to blame. Neither did he spend enough time with the team nor tried to establish a winning team, as a result of which, the lack of trust in ownership further contributed to the Fish not having enough attendance at the stadium. So, the Marlins now would require consistent involvement of their new manager and also prioritize team-building exercises, which could promote growth and make the players have stronger fanbases too.
What, according to you, might be the reason for lower attendance and how the Marlins can resolve the problem? Let us know in the below comment section.
