Mavericks Announce Troubling Update for 5 Players as Kyrie Irving Faces Off Against Stephen Curry’s Warriors

The Dallas Mavericks’ season just got worse. They lost, rather willingly traded Luka Doncic to the Lakers. And while they received Anthony Davis and Max Christie in return, it has not panned out for the Mavs so far. What’s worse is that’s not the only concern fans will have.

Making his debut for the Mavs against the Houston Rockets, Davis put in a great performance, but he got injured toward the end of the game. Now, fans wonder if this marks the beginning of a worrying trend with Davis. So let’s see what the Mavericks’ injury report has to say.

Dallas Mavericks Injury Report – Are the Mavericks shorthanded going into the Golden State Warriors game?

Mavs fans, we know it’s been a rough start to 2025 for you. And that’s why we take no pleasure in what we’re about to tell you. The Dallas Mavericks are missing their entire center rotation heading into the Golden State Warriors game. Anthony Davis is OUT with a left adductor strain while Dwight Powell remains sidelined with a strained right hip. AD will remain sidelined for a few weeks and there’s no clear timeline for Powell’s return.

Daniel Gafford’s brilliant run of form abruptly ended because of a sprain in his right knee; he will remain OUT for at least 2 weeks. Dereck Lively II is also OUT as he continues to recover from the stress fracture he suffered in January. The only center that may play against the Dubs is Dante Exum. But even he remains QUESTIONABLE with tightness in his left Achilles tendon.

Apart from their centers, the Mavericks will also miss the contributions of Caleb Martin against the Dubs. A strained right hip keeps him OUT on Wednesday. PJ Washington is also QUESTIONABLE for the Warriors game with a sprained right ankle. All in all, the Mavs have 5 players who are OUT and 2 who are QUESTIONABLE for the Dubs game.

This does not bode well for the Mavericks as they go against Curry’s Golden State Warriors. The Dubs look renewed after bringing in Jimmy Butler, ahead of the trade deadline.

As far as centers go, they can only count on Kylor Kelley, who’s only played 5 games for them this season. Luka Doncic must be feeling for his “hermano” Kyrie Irving right about now.

Dallas Mavericks potential starting lineup

Faced with an unexpected and frankly, unprecedented predicament, Dallas will need to improvise to field a competent starting lineup against the Warriors on Wednesday. Even though they have one of the best backcourt pairings in the NBA with Kyrie Irving and Klay Thompson, their frontcourt woes will certainly affect them in this matchup. Nevertheless, here’s how the Mavs may lineup on Wednesday:

POSITION
PLAYER

PG
Kyrie Irving

SG
Klay Thompson

SF
Max Christie

PF
Naji Marshall

C
Kylor Kelley

This is certainly not the best starting lineup the Dallas Mavericks offer its fans. However, it’s the only one they can field on Wednesday given the roster’s critical condition due to injuries.

The Mavericks’ season may just be over if their players keep missing games like this. So much for Nico Harrison’s plan to secure the present and the future for the Mavs.
