Meet Richard Mansell: Girlfriend, Career, & More Details About DP World Tour Pro Revealed

The historic feat for the 29-year-old professional has left the golf world with joy. Especially his support system. Well, we are here talking about the golfer, Richard Mansell, who achieved his maiden victory in the DP World Tour on the 104th attempt. The English professional has clinched a long-due victory after his 7-year-long professional career.

However, the golf world learned about the golfer after his great 100-feet winning putt. He torched the course with a 6-under-par 66, ripping off five straight birdies from holes 4 to 8 to take command. A lone bogey on 10 briefly halted his momentum, but he made amends with a birdie on 18, dropping a two-putt from over 100 feet. But there is still a lot to uncover for the golfer’s life. So here is everything about the Singapore Classic 2025 winner.

The career of Richard Mansell

The golfer, from Lichfield, England, plays on the European Tour currently, but his career took a turn when he started playing at Nova Southeastern University from 2014 to 2017. Though, there have been no statistics from his college career, his turning pro soon after he graduated is an indication of his distinguished career beginning.

After turning professional, he started playing on the PGA EuroPro Tour. Two years on the tour, he claimed his first professional victory at the Cobra Puma Championship. His continued consistency in the Challenge Tour helped him secure fourth position on the Road To Mallorca Rankings. This outstanding achievement helped Mansell gain status on the European Tour beginning in the 2021 season.

Starting off in the DP World Tour, the golfer had many top 10s and 5s. Even with his confident performance each year, in 2024, he was T10 at the Genesis Scottish Open. Well, the efforts have finally paid off with his first career victory at the DP World Tour. After 3 complete seasons, the golfer won with a stroke difference over Japan’s Keita Nakajima. With his victory, his support pillar was also in tears. But who is his greatest supporter?

Richard Mansell’s biggest supporter on and off course

“It’s taken a lot of work these past six months. Ellie, my wife, has been so supportive,” he said, thanking his wife, Ellie Mansell. The duo had a long relationship before they made it official. Ellie has been a constant support for the golfer, be it at the course or off the course.

According to her Instagram, their first picture together dates back to September 2018, meaning they’ve been together for over seven years. The duo continued to step forward in their relationship, as in 2019 they brought a home together and the same year Mansell proposed to Ellie.

Later, the pair, with their dog, posted their marriage photo on 26th August 2023. The couple has ever since been companions of each other, be it skydiving in Dubai or supporting Mansell at the Singapore Classic. Notably, not just support, but with the accomplishment of the golfer, Ellie Mansell was seen jumping with tears to celebrate the first victory of her husband.

Apart from the support and the great gameplay, there have been a lot of changes, including the looper that the golfer has made to get the result. He shared about that after his victory.

Changes the golfer did for the desired outcome

Before teeing up a golf career, Richard Mansell was a talented footballer with dreams of going pro. But once he picked up a club, there was no turning back. To fund his early years, he hustled as a caddie, grinding his way to the big leagues. Now armed with PING clubs and Titleist Pro V1x balls, he trusts his gear to deliver the consistency and control that keeps him in the hunt.

After his latest victory, Mansell shared how things changed after having so many close finishes, yet no victories in the account. He shared how his change in attitude towards the game helped him. “But I went searching, I tried to change, and I became quite good at pointing the finger, blaming other people why it hadn’t happened. And I started just not enjoying it as much and I just got a little bit lost from where I’d actually come from,” he added. In the 2021-22 season, he was top 10 multiple times, including T8 at Betfred British Masters, 8 at the Dutch Open, and T7 at Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. Along with that, he was T4 at the ISPS Handa World Invitational, 3 at the Omega European Masters, and T3 at the Porsche European Open. However, now with his humbleness towards the game and enjoying the process, he’s improved.

Then, apart from the internal changes, there was an evident change in the course as well. Beside him for the Singapore Classic, he was with a new caddie which helped him in the game. Speaking for that, he shared, “First week with a new caddie, so that was a good start and he just got me to slow down a couple of times.” With close competition throughout the event, his caddie has helped him maintain calm.

Now, with the powerful support, evident changes internally and in the team. Will the golfer get on a victory run with his performance? What are your thoughts on his performance? Share with us in the comments below.
