Only the best have the ability to stand out even when they are playing in team-based formats, and Trace Crowe is one of them. The 28-year-old and his teammate, Taylor Dickson, faced a lot of obstacles in the 2025 Zurich Classic. And Crowe managed to impress the crowd even in such a diverse field. The second-generation athlete has his father, Dale Crowe’s, competitive nature, as he kept on pushing for a spot at the top of the table. While that didn’t help Crowe and Dickson propel towards a win, they have still finished above the defending champions, Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry, in the tournament.
The impressive performance has led to intrigue as fans have been asking questions about the Greenville resident. So let’s take a look at the life and career journey of the new PGA Tour star, Trace Crowe.
Following the footsteps of his father
On Oct 9, 1996, Dale Crowe and his wife brought home a new member to their family. They named him Trace, a child destined for a career in sports. Dale himself was a star in college basketball. He represented the Furman Paladins and helped them win against a fierce North Carolina Tar Heels side, coached by Dean Smith, in 1979. Dale played as a point guard and was known to be slippery for his extremely agile movement on the court. He also made sure his son received all the opportunities he didn’t in his career. In fact, the PGA Tour pro also admitted, “We didn’t have a lot and he just poured his heart and soul into my golf to get here.” He seems grateful for all his dad’s sacrifices and is paying him back by succeeding in golf.
Crowe has picked up a few sporting qualities from his father, as he too has been rising through the ranks. The 28-year-old began his journey at Auburn University and had a splendid amateur career. He won multiple titles across the four-year period, including the 2016 USA Individual Tournament. He also excelled in university and would have preferred being a doctor if things didn’t work out on the golf course. A couple of years later, in 2020, the South Carolina local turned pro. Two more years of hard work helped him finally get his KFT card. He played on the Tour for four years and made 25 during that period. One of them was an outstanding playoff win against Patrick Fishburn in the 2023 NV5 Invitational presented by Old National Bank. The same year, he also finished solo second in the PGA TOUR Q-School presented by Korn Ferry. Understandably, the second-place finish was a lot more valuable for Crowe, and to the joy of the fans, he celebrated it by calling his family and partner.
2024 was probably the best year for Trace Crowe as he got some great opportunities after the impressive performance in the season prior. He played in 25 events and made 12 cuts along the way. One of them was in the 2024 Wyndham Championship, where Greenville local managed to finish at T7 with a 12-under 268. He beat a number of big-name golfers like Shane Lowry, Jordan Spieth, and Keegan Bradley to end up in that position on the leaderboard.
While Crowe’s opportunities have been limited in 2025, he has still made the cut in both the tournaments he has played. From this point on, his professional golf career only seems to be heading towards an upward trajectory. But what about his life away from the course?
Trace Crowe: Family, love, and a whole lot of smiles
We have already learned about Trace Crowe’s father, Dale. His mother doesn’t seem to have a digital footprint, and the only instance she was brought into the conversation was when her son finished second in the PGA Tour Q-School event. However, there is one person who has been consistently pictured on Crowe’s Instagram. Molly Dalton has been his better half for a very long time. While there are no traces of when they first started dating, we found out that they have been together for at least six years after scouring through the PGA Tour pro’s Instagram.
Like many golfers, Crowe doesn’t shy away from sharing glimpses of his personal life with his followers. There are many pictures of him and Molly together on the course, dressing up for parties, going on a trek, and grabbing a large glass of Guinness at the Guinness Storehouse in Dublin. 2025 will bring a lot of happiness to Trace Crowe and his partner, not only on the course but also away from it. Save the date as the couple is scheduled to get married on September 27, 2025. Interestingly, that is the same week as the 2025 Ryder Cup in Bethpage. Trace Crowe might have a decision to make if he somehow makes it to the Team US squad for the prestigious event. The only thing that could top them would probably be the opportunity to play a round with Tiger Woods, which is his dream according to his university profile.
Everything considered, do you think Trace Crowe will win his first PGA Tour title in the near future? Let us know in the comments section.
