Mets Humble Top MLB Insider Who Criticized Them as Pre-Season Prediction Backfires Horribly

The New York Mets begin the season with a bumpy road ahead for the rotation. Important pitchers like Sean Manaea and Frankie Montas are out due to injuries. But are they missing them? Not much! And even analysts have started rethinking their words. Surprising, right? Well, it’s MLB, and anything can happen.

The Queens are playing, and how have they been? Stunning everyone with the performances. The whole lineup is performing, from pitching to hitting; everything is going well. It’s like ticking every column of the checklist. Over the first 30 games, their rotation had a league-leading 2.27 ERA, a whole run better than the next best in the National League. The Mets’ numbers are speaking for themselves, and even analysts are appreciating it.

In a candid response, MLB insider Jon Heyman said, “The Mets rotation was supposed to be their big weakness. That’s what we were told. Or rather, that’s what we told you.” He continued, “Yeah, sorry about that. It feels like we got it all wrong.” The Mets have not only dodged a challenge, but they have also mapped out a path to success, showing that with the right attitude and consistent play, they can win.

Not only Jon Heyman, but also another MLB analyst echoed his thoughts. Jeff Passan, in a recent podcast, said, “I love what the New York Mets are doing. They just got good vibes around that team right now.”

He is not wrong, though. The Mets just became the first team in MLB 2025 to record 20 wins against the Arizona Diamonds on Tuesday. A feat like this always becomes a delight when almost everyone doubted your capability. And the Queens are making sure to keep changing those perceptions. The too early to judge concept is getting true.

The team’s ability to bounce back shows how well they are developed and how effective their development method is. Even though some important players have been injured and are not playing up to their mark. The Mets have maintained their strong lineup, leading MLB in winning and giving fans and experts alike hope.

Mets rising with a potent mix

The New York Mets are storming the 2025 season so far. I mean, look at the numbers!

The pitching team of New York has been outstanding. Leading the league in ERA, eighth in opponent batting average, and first in strikeouts. Griffin Canning, the starting pitcher, is third in victories, while Tylor Megill is eighth in ERA. Relief pitcher Reed Garrett is also tied for the league lead in holds.

However, a problem is that the $765 million signing is not performing as expected. But Manager Carlos Mendoza is still hopeful about Juan Soto’s path, even though his most recent 0-for-3 showing was in the Mets’ 8–3 win against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Mendoza underlined Soto’s at-bats’ excellence by saying, “He went 0-for-3 and hit two balls over 100 mph, one of them the other way.” Soto’s latest lineouts, with exit speeds of 104 mph and 101.4 mph, suggest he is making good contact, a good indication as he settles into his new squad.

Averaging 4.8 runs per game and scoring at least seven runs in three straight games, the Mets’ offense has been burning on all cylinders. Key players are Pete Alonso, who tops the National League with a .346 average and a 1.126 OPS, and Francisco Lindor, hitting .302 with an .855 OPS. The lineup has been strengthened even more by Jeff McNeil and Francisco Alvarez’s recent comeback from the disabled list.

In three games, McNeil has four hits—one of which is a home run—while Alvarez has four hits in four games, including a homer and a double. Mendoza said, “We have Alvy, we have Jeff, and you can sense the effect and how deep it makes our lineup.” The Mets are set for ongoing offensive success with a fair combination of power and contact batters.

With the season unfolding, and if the Queens keep on ticking every box. Can they clinch the title?
