Tensions boiled over in the Subway Series on Sunday as Mets manager Carlos Mendoza was ejected in a rather dramatic fashion after a heated exchange with home plate umpire John Bacon in the ninth inning.
It all started with a pair of questionable strike calls against the Mets’ catcher, Luis Torrens. The first pitch was clearly off the plate, and Mendoza didn’t hold back to protect his player and let out his frustration from the dugout. But the second call was what pushed him off the edge.
Bacon rang up Torrens, and he had Mendoza furious, and he stormed out of the dugout.

Mendoza ensured the umpire heard what he said. Nothing was audible, but words seemed to fly, and before long, the New York Mets skipper was tossed out of the game. And he didn’t go without fighting, as he kicked dirt on his way out.
