Alex Pereira recently addressed Joe Rogan‘s claims about heading into UFC 313 injured and with an illness. While he matched some of the claims about the difficulties he faced leading up to his fight against Magomed Ankalaev, UFC legend Michael Bisping decided to hear everything he had to say. Like many fighters who have made excuses after a loss, ‘The Count’ believes that the former light heavyweight champion could be speaking the truth.
Alex Pereira did not take away anything from Magomed Ankalaev, who defeated him with a unanimous decision. However, he mentioned that the fans may not have gotten to witness the fight because ‘Poatan’ was close to withdrawing because he wasn’t really feeling himself to be at his best, and Michael Bisping believes that his words are true, and certainly not an ‘excuse’.
“I will admit, when I first saw this one, I did think that Pereira was coming out with excuses, but when I saw this interview that he did, he ain’t making any excuses whatsoever,” Michael Bisping stated on his YouTube channel. Given the nature of the fight business, the UFC legend claims that such injuries are bound to happen, and Alex Pereira fell victim to it before he fought Magomed Ankalaev.
“Just like I say, just like every fighter says, not many fighters are 100 percent when they step inside that Octagon. So full respect to Alex Pereira for handling it this way, and I very much look forward to the rematch,” the UFC Hall of Famer added.

Furthermore, Michael Bisping also explained what might have happened to Alex Pereira when it comes to his injuries. The UK’s first UFC champion explained how things go wrong for a UFC fighter when it comes to hand injuries. Let’s take a look at what the Hall of Famer had to say.
Michael Bisping paints a picture of the possible reason behind Alex Pereira’s injury
Given that Michael Bisping wasn’t immune to injuries during his time as a UFC fighter, he indicated that what Alex Pereira was suffering from could have been a pain-ridden hand. ‘The Count’ also believes that Alex Pereira could have even hurt his hand while blocking his opponent’s kicks as well. It can happen in training or in a fight, and keeping that in mind, Bisping, while showing off his battle scars, further stated, “The reality is, he probably had a sore hand. [Shows his hand] You probably can’t see there, but this hand here, that’s broken. This swollen wrist here that’s broken. That was probably by blocking a head kick at some point. That happened in a UFC fight. S–t goes wrong in fights, okay?”
However, the British MMA legend claims that a fighter isn’t affected by injuries during fights as much as they are while in training. The reason behind all of that is the adrenaline rush that they have while butting heads with their opponents. “But when it happens in the fight, a lot of the time, it would be adrenaline. You don’t really feel it. It’s when it happens in the training camp that it really becomes a problem… But this is what we do as fighters… and that is exactly what Alex Pereira was saying here,” Michael Bisping added.
Well, Alex Pereira is determined to get back his title and has claimed that this injury was just a minor setback. He didn’t reveal all the details about his issues, but he claims that he will when he wins the championship back from Magomed Ankalaev. What do you think? Will ‘Poatan’ succeed?
