It was October 6, 2024, when the Ohio State Buckeyes were heading to play against the Iowa Hawkeyes. Everybody would have thought that, at the end, any team would win, huh? But those who watched that game can’t forget the way Will Howard showcased his greatness. He went on to pass only 25 passes for 209 yards, but the production was incredible. He completed 21 out of those passes at the rate of 84% and scored four touchdowns. It looked so easy when Howard was perfectly passing, and with one pass, he didn’t know he was making his space available in the NFL.
Not so surprising, but the Buckeyes QB made his way to the big league. Though he was selected 185th in the 2025 NFL draft, here is the new update. After the Pittsburgh Steelers picked him up in the 2025 NFL draft, fans started bashing Mike Tomlin for creating a ‘loser’ QB room. First of all, the Steelers are waiting for Aaron Rodgers’ decision.
Fans are already fed up with that drama since the free agency started, but along with Rodgers, people started doubting the skills of the 2024 college football championship winners. But the 23-YO has been impressing his coaches since he entered the locker room. The head coach, Mike Tomlin, has also recently made his stance clear on Will Howard.
Coach Tomlin recalled Howard’s 2024 CFB season. “I think, like a lot of people, how he responded to that adversity at the end of their regular season and the leadership and play-making that he displayed throughout the Playoffs was really attractive.” In the 2024 college football postseason, Will landed a total of eight touchdowns and threw only two interceptions out of 109 passes he made. He completed 82 of those 109 passes at a 75.22% completion rate. In the championship game also Will Howard completed 82% of his passes and scored two touchdowns.

Tomlin also added, “It’s really what NFL football is about. There’s going to be some adversity. How you respond to it defines you and your football team, particularly from the quarterback position.” Well, we don’t know how he would play in the 2025 NFL season; only time will tell. But, hold on before making any conclusions about Howard. Super Bowl-winning NFL coach Jon Gruden also endorsed Will Howard while choosing a generational talent. Well, let’s see how he’s gonna perform in the 2025 season if he bags the QB1 spot.
But before he enters the NFL, other experts are not sparing Mike Tomlin for making mistakes in the 2025 NFL draft. In the latest update, a CBS analyst has bashed the Steelers’ coach for making the QB room the worst one.
Mike Tomlin’s Steelers have the worst QB room?
A CBS Sports Writer, Garrett Podell, made waves in the Sports world after throwing the Steelers under the bus. The writer has called the Steelers franchise the worst in terms of QB situation. “The Steelers have the worst quarterback room in the entire NFL after completely turning over at the position each of the last two years.” And if we remember, the Steelers had Kenny Pickett, Mason Rudolph, and Mitchell Trubisky in the 2023-24 NFL season. But in the 2024 season, they had Russell Wilson and Justin Fields. Both players left the Steel City after just one season.

The analyst continued, “Mason Rudolph, a third-round pick of the Steelers in 2018, returns after a year away with the Titans in 2024.” Then the analyst explained how Skyler Thompson also came back to the Steel City. But what the analyst wanted to say here is, the Steelers have Rudolph, Howard, and Thompson, and none of them make the Steelers’ QB room great. If they could manage to land Aaron Rodgers, that could change the atmosphere. But still, he could only be there for one year. So, next year we will again witness people bashing Tomlin’s Steelers for the worst WB room.
Now, the talk of the town is that Aaron Rodgers might strike a handshake deal with the Steelers, a move that has stirred excitement among fans but also raised significant concerns about the long-term direction and stability of the team. As speculation continues to grow, all eyes are on Pittsburgh. Let’s see how it all unfolds.
