Mike Tomlin’s Gymnast Daughter Bags Massive Achievement With College After Simone Biles Graced Home Opener

Mike Tomlin might be deep in the trenches, trying to sort out the Steelers’ next big quarterback move, but football isn’t the only thing making waves in the Tomlin household. While he’s making some key decisions for the franchise, his daughter, Harley Tomlin, has been flipping, tumbling, and sticking landings in a whole different arena. And let’s just say, Harley is out there making headlines in a way that even her dad would be proud of.

On Friday, the Steelers’ nineteenth-year head coach took to his official IG handle and celebrated her daughter’s achievement while sharing her picture, captioning “Daddy’s girl, @harlyntomlin.” And if you’ve been keeping up with Harley lately, you probably know that her squad, the Georgia GymDogs, just locked in a national seed (10th) in the NCAA Tournament—their first since 2019. Talk about making moves.

Yeah, you read that absolutely right. While Mike Tomlin is out there looking to bolster the Steelers’ roster to lift the seventh Lombardi, Harley is gearing up to compete in the Seattle Regional. The NCAA announced on Monday that the tenth-seeded University of Georgia will compete at Alaska Airlines Arena in the NCAA Seattle Regional, scheduled from 2 to 6 April.

And let’s be real—despite some mid-season hiccups, like that tough outing at the SEC Championships, the GymDogs have shown resilience. The GymDogs kicked off their season with a 195.975 at the Denver Quad Meet, facing stiff competition from Missouri and Denver. But they bounced back, notching a season-high 197.350 against Missouri.

As for Tomlin’s girl, Harley? She kicked off her freshman year at Georgia and had a notable impact throughout the season. Recognized as a five-star recruit, Harley made her debut against the Florida Gators, scoring an impressive 9.850 on the balance beam, tying with Aberdeen O’Driscoll.

Now that the GymDogs are gearing up for the NCAA tournament, no wonder Harley Tomlin is poised to make some noise on the bigger stage. And speaking of bigger stages, let’s not forget that the GymDogs have hosted someone special in their season opener.

The Georgia GymDogs hosted the 11-time Olympic medalist

When the Georgia GymDogs hosted their home opener against Boise State back in January this year, y’all know the atmosphere was electric. But not just because of the gymnastics, but because Olympic legend Simone Biles graced Stegeman Coliseum with her presence. While making a guest appearance at the GymDogs home opener, Biles was there to support her long-time coach Cécile Canqueteau-Landi.

Canqueteau-Landi, who made her debut for the GymDogs as their co-head coach, coached Biles to the Rio, Tokyo, and Paris Olympic Games. To top that off, she and her husband, Laurent, are personal coaches to Biles. “They’ve been big mentors in like my adulthood (because) they got to see and harness the more mature Simone,” Biles said back in January. “They’ve helped me a lot, not just in the gym but out of the gym, too.”

No wonder the sold-out crowd of 10,523 buzzed with excitement with the presence of 11-time Olympic medalist. To add a night’s charm, Biles along with her husband, NFL safety Jonathan Owens, sported custom Georgia GymDogs jerseys, fully embracing the “Go Dawgs” spirit. And it’s safe to say that the GymDogs didn’t disappoint their guest in the Denver Quad Meet.

Scoring 195.975, GymDogs placed third behind #5 Missouri (196.125) and #11 Denver (196.575). Fast forward and all eyes are on the NCAA tournament, set to kick off from April 2.
