“I wanna eat his children! When’s the last time he’s even seen them? His wife? His mother? How about you go spend some time with your kids and family for a change—and keep my name outta your mouth before you get trapped somewhere again. You might not be so lucky next time.” That was Conor McGregor—channeling his inner Mike Tyson in one of his now-deleted, explosive tweets after his rival Khabib Nurmagomedov called him “evil” for insulting his father, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, on Tyson’s Hotboxing podcast. The tweet wasn’t just a nod to Tyson’s iconic post-fight rant after beating Lou Savarese in Glasgow. It was the Irishman, not backing down even after suffering the crushing defeat against his arch-nemesis.
The UFC’s no stranger to bitter rivalries. Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier went at it hard, especially when ‘Bones’ sent out that NSFW tweet. Then there’s Chael Sonnen and Anderson Silva, which flared up after ‘The Bad Guy’ compared ‘The Spider’s bowing down in front of his opponents to theft. But Conor McGregor vs. Khabib? That one felt different. The Irishman’s words felt more intense, personal, and straight-up got under Nurmagomedov’s skin. It’s been years, and the bitterness is still going strong!
It’s a question that often comes up: How far should a fighter be allowed to verbally attack their opponent? While there’s no clear line, topics like family, children, and religion are usually seen as crossing the line. Conor vs. Khabib rivalry? It hit all of those marks. To add another layer to the conversation, Henry Cejudo, who once co-hosted Tyson’s Hotboxin podcast, shared the legendary boxer’s perspective on trash talk during a podcast with Kamaru Usman and special guest Israel Adesanya.
Cejudo on the Pound 4 Pound podcast said, “Obviously Mike Tyson. We had Khabib on Hotboxing. We were talking about Conor and Khabib, and you know I was like, hey Mike, ‘How far is too far, like with s–t talking?’ And he said because fu—-g McGregor was going in on Khabib’s personal life, even his Dad, who’d just deceased. And Mike Tyson said it like, ‘Listen, man! Anything and everything f—-ng goes. And he said it right in front of us.”

Here, ‘Triple C’ has indicated towards McGregor’s infamous deleted tweet, “Covid is good and Father is evil,” after Khabib’s dad, Abdulmanap, passed away in Moscow due to COVID-19 implications. It’s a low-blow that would shatter any boundaries. But, then there’s Mike Tyson, the original bad guy, who has already set the bar for trash talk back in the day. ‘Iron Mike’ didn’t just destroy people with his fists—he wasn’t shy with his words either. So, this unhinged take by him isn’t surprising at all.
It’s been seven years since UFC 229, and yet the event still hangs over the sport. Both Khabib and Conor have taken different paths since then. The Hall of Famer is now focused on coaching fighters like Islam Makhachev and Umar Nurmagomedov, while Conor’s making a run at a presidential bid. It might not turn heads for everyone, but it’s got at least one lightweight contender paying attention.
Renato Moicano impressed with Conor McGregor’s presidential run
Renato Moicano, the UFC lightweight contender, is one of those fighters who isn’t shy about sharing his views on politics, law, and enforcement. He’s even said that once he’s done with fighting, he’d like to serve as a police officer. Moreover, Moicano is also paying attention to Conor McGregor’s presidential run bid. After the Irishman’s interview with Tucker Carlson, even ‘Money’ found himself more impressed by the campaign. Not only him, but one of his elderly friends’ wife also seemed to be captivated by McGregor’s speeches.
Moicano on Show Me the Money podcast said, “You know how crazy Conor McGregor is? He went on Tucker Carlson, he was talking all sorts of sh–t, my brother. How does this m—f—er have the courage, you know? He’s talking a big game on politics. This guy is fu—-g crazy. She [friend’s wife] was talking about how Conor McGregor will make Ireland good again, and said, ‘That lady doesn’t know what she’s talking about.’ She’s watching politics and she says, ‘Ireland is a fu—-g mess right now. She doesn’t know who McGregor is, but she thinks he will be a good President.”
Clearly, Conor McGregor is still a household name. But what do you think the future holds for him as president? Also, do you agree with Henry Cejudo stating Mike Tyson’s thoughts on trash talk? Drop your thoughts in the comments below!
