The Patriots are currently in a massive mess! The team has not made its final calls on the Draft pick, and while there are numerous rumors, nothing can be said for certain at this time. For the time being, one thing is clear for the team: they intend to make a great comeback this season. Last year, they finished 4-13, but with new HC Mike Vrabel, they are hoping to bounce back. Rumors suggest that the HC has been doing great work and giving special attention to the team’s QB, Drake Maye. But if the rumors are true, then after the NFL Draft, the QB picture for the team might look different.
While some speculate that the Patriots will pick Travis Hunter in the first round, the change in the QB picture may happen after the third day of the Draft. Reporter Tony Pauline says that Mike Vrabel is keeping an eye out for QB Jordan McCloud. Maybe you’ve heard of him. McCloud is the Texas State Bobcats‘ quarterback, known for his spectacular performance and leadership abilities. The QB has generated a lot of hype and might be an excellent addition to the Patriots’ roster.

As per an update on X, “The #Patriots met with QB Jordan McCloud at Texas State’s Pro Day, per @TonyPauline. The 6’0, 207-pound signal-caller has thrown for nearly 6’900 passing yards and 65 TDs the last two seasons — his mobility is eye-catching as well. A projected Day 3 pick.” McCloud is a genuinely spectacular superstar, having been named Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year and First Team All-Sun Belt.
Mike Vrabel’s trust currently lies in Drake Maye, but if he is unable to handle the team this season, Jordan McCloud can serve as an excellent backup. With his remarkable ability, he has made 846 successful throws for 10,135 throwing yards and 88 TDs. Not only that, he also has a passer rating of 147.9 and only 38 interceptions in five seasons. Mike Vrabel should definitely take time and think it through. And if the team can, they should draft the QB in the third round or earlier.
However, there lies one big problem. There is a chance that the QB Drake Maye can be unsettling. After all, the fact that someone has already been lined up to replace him does not even sound good. That can put some pressure on him to perform better so that he is not benched. But based on his recent statement, he may not allow this pressure to enter his head.
Drake Maye wants Mike Vrabel and the team to go all in on the NFL draft
Sometimes a team requires a few missing pieces to complete its picture. And when they finally grasp it, BOOM! They have the ability to even win the Super Bowl out of nowhere. And what better place than the NFL Draft for the teams to fill those missing pieces? QB Drake is aware of this, which is why he is not hesitant to get any player on board. The 22-year-old understands that his potential is significantly more than what he has accomplished thus far. So it’s fine if the team chooses to go with another young quarterback.
During an interview, Maye mentioned how difficult the team’s journey has been, and how the best for the team in the NFL Draft is to take the best player available. He explained his point of view by stating, “I think you take the best player. I’m thinking that early, you take the best player available… Whoever wants to come play in New England and win some football games.”
Mike Vrabel has already given the fans great hope for the team. And given the suspected names and other stuff, the team can indeed make a strong lineup. If the team decides to select Travis Hunter in the draft, then their second-round pick can only help to build on that. After all, Hunter is a two-way player who can handle both situations on the field. But if they can’t acquire him, the team must seriously consider their draft strategy. Tell us what you think about their circumstances and whether the Patriots can have a successful Draft.
