MLB Report: Red Sox Fast-Track Kristian Campbell Contract Extension Talks—What About Garrett Crochet?

The third-best prospect in the MLB just started the 2025 regular season on an expected note. The 22-year-old Kristian Campbell quickly established himself as a member of the Red Sox. How? He hit his first home run against the Rangers on Saturday night after earning a spot on the roster during spring training. While this is already in the news, the latest update is that the Red Sox are now in deep talks with Campbell regarding his contract. While it is a justified strategy for the Red Sox to lock in a top prospect for the long run, what is going on with their star pitcher, Garrett Crochet’s, contract?

Well, in 2023, the 22-year-old prospect was selected in the fourth round from Georgia Tech. Only in the last summer did Campbell soar up prospect lists after hitting .330/.439/.558 with 32 doubles and 20 home runs at three minor league levels. In the season’s first three games, he went 3 for 7 with a walk. Moreover, despite being a natural second baseman, he played in left field on Saturday. Yes, he is the reason behind the Red Sox’s plan to go with Alex Bregman at third and Rafael Devers as a DH. Hence, a worthy talent in the making for the Red Sox.

Keep a lookout at this space for further updates about what the team is planning for Crochet’s contract while going overboard for Campbell.
