Muhammad Ali’s Family Perfectly Sums Up Chris Eubank Sr. and Son’s Reunion in One Word

For Chris Eubank Jr., things weren’t always smooth sailing with his father, especially when Eubank Sr. wasn’t on board with the fight with Conor Benn happening. The two weight class difference had Eubank Sr. calling the match “illegal” and asking for it to be canceled. And when Chris Eubank Jr. made headlines by smashing an egg on Conor Benn’s face, it even prompted Eubank Sr. to call his son a “disgrace.” But when April 26th came around, the story took a turn, and something truly “special” unfolded before the fight.

As the doors of his car swung open and Chris Eubank Sr.’s image flashed across the big screen inside Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the crowd erupted in a huge roar. And there, with a smile on his face, Eubank Sr. emerged, waiting for someone. The camera zoomed out to show his son, Chris Eubank Jr., walking toward him. They embraced in a heartfelt hug, the father and son putting all past tension behind them as they walked side by side into the stadium. The crowd was on their feet, cheering loudly, and some of that chill-inducing moment surely made its way to Nico Ali Walsh, who couldn’t have been happier with the touching gesture of the boxing legend.

Just like many others, Matchroom Boxing couldn’t resist capturing that powerful moment and shared the video for the world to see. Muhammad Ali’s grandson, Nico Ali Walsh, didn’t need to say much—he simply reshared the clip on his Instagram story with one word that said it all: “Amazing.” But that wasn’t all. The 10-2 fighter took it a step further, sharing a snap of the father-son duo in his next slide, making sure fans felt the full weight of the history of that moment.

So, you might be wondering—after Chris Eubank Sr. said he wouldn’t be in his son’s corner, how did he end up showing up ringside? Was it all just for PR? Well, Chris Eubank Jr.’s father explained it perfectly.

“Whether I’m ringside or in this corner, I’m here,” he said, setting the record straight. And then looking at the camera straight, he stated, “In fact, Conor… that’s not fair to say I don’t even like my son. I love my son,” he admitted in an interview with Sky Sports before the fight. “I may not like some of his ways, as I don’t like some of your ways. But I love him.”

So now, with the 35-3 boxer’s father supporting him and him earning a unanimous decision win, with scorecards reading 116-112 across, the question on everyone’s mind is: Is a rematch in the cards? Well, according to Ring Magazine, it’s already being discussed. “EUBANK JR VS BENN HAS A REMATCH CLAUSE WHICH GIVES BENN THE OPPORTUNITY TO FORCE SECOND FIGHT,” they shared on Instagram. But when’s the showdown?

The Chris Eubank Jr. vs Conor Benn Rematch is closer than you think!

According to reports, Chris Eubank Jr. and Conor Benn could face off again in as little as five months. Both fighters agreed to a rematch clause before their first bout, so now it’s up to Benn to decide if he wants to run it back or move down to welterweight. Even the Saudi Royal HE Turki Alalshikh has confirmed that plans for part two are already in motion, stating, “If they’re not injured and ready, we want the rematch in late September at Tottenham.” But the big question is: are both fighters truly ready to dive back into the ring so soon?

Conor Benn, still nursing the sting of his first loss, was quick to voice his determination. “I want the revenge, I want my revenge,” he declared. Even though he couldn’t seal the deal in their first fight, Benn’s confidence hasn’t wavered. “I had Eubank hurt multiple times but I couldn’t get the finish,” he said, promising that next time, “the finish is there.”

And for Chris Eubank Jr., having his father ringside to support him makes the second fight seem a whole lot more doable. “He needed to be here. All of this is because of what he did,” Eubank Jr. said, full of gratitude toward his father. “I’m happy to have this man with me. I’ve upheld the family name, like we said we were going to, so it’s onwards and upwards.”

Now, with the rematch clause in place, Benn is open to a second fight, especially after how close the first one was. But let’s not forget, he’s got a lot of options. One of those? Dropping back down to welterweight to chase a world title, an idea which his promoter, Eddie Hearn, is all for. The offer is looking pretty enticing, especially with so many top fighters already lining up for a shot at him. So with that said, can Conor Benn avenge his first career loss against Chris Eubank Jr, or will history repeat itself? What do you think?
