NASCAR Talladega 2025: Entry List, Practice, Qualifying, Purse, Tickets & Where to Watch

What is it about Talladega that makes hearts race faster than engines? NASCAR transforms from a sport into a spectacle at Talladega. Just 0.007 seconds separated Ryan Blaney and Ryan Newman at the finish line in the fall of 2019, making it one of the closest finishes in NASCAR history. Earned in a race full of mayhem, drafting chess matches, and last-lap heroics, the victory wasn’t just a win; it was a playoff-saver. Uncertainty rules at Talladega, and Blaney demonstrated that day that sometimes the most crucial weapons in a racer’s toolbox are survival and courage.

The stakes are extremely high as the NASCAR circus arrives in Alabama this weekend for the 2025 Talladega race. The weekend promises to be more than just high-speed mayhem—it’s a financial battleground with over $12.7 million up for grabs across the Cup, Xfinity, and ARCA Series. Every turn matters, every lap counts, and Talladega may be the season-changing event for many. This is true from practice to qualifying.

The Purse: The $12.7 Million Showdown Up for Grabs

Talladega Superspeedway redefines fate in addition to testing drivers’ instincts. This 2.66-mile monster has no safety net because of its steep 33-degree banking on the turns, erratic pack racing, and history of disasters. Each restart is a risk. It’s a power battle every lap. However, money is a more subdued power behind all the noise. Over $12.7 million will be distributed combined for the Xfinity and Cup races, forming a battlefield where winning entails more than simply a trophy.

The NASCAR Cup Series has a whopping $11,055,250 purse, while the Xfinity Series will race for $1,651,939. ARCA, as usual, conceals its figures, but what is known about them is more than enough to highlight how high the stakes are. Each Cup dollar is split among four major categories, which influence how teams plan and survive week after week. Winnings for finishing positions reward every position from first to 40th, meaning that real money is at stake in every late-race battle, even if not in the top 10.

Talladega Entry List

This weekend’s lineup, which consists of an unpredictable mix of champions, challengers, and wildcards prepared to face the unknown, embodies that attitude. Apart from the 36 chartered teams, there will be three open entries competing at the Jack Link’s 500. J.J. The three entries are – #44 NY Racing Team with J.J. Yeley, the #62 Beard Motorsports with Anthony Alfredo, and the #78 Live Fast Motorsports entry with driver B.J. McLeod. None of the cars will have to go home empty-handed as the field is set for 39 cars for the Cup event. However, the same cannot be said for the Xfinity race.

A total of 41 cars have entered the second-tier series race at Talladega, but only 38 spots are available on the grid. Notable entries that are trying to make the cut are Katherine Legge and Jeffrey Earnhardt. Not to forget, you have Jesee Iwuji making his surprise return. The likes of Jake Garcia and Aric Almirola will also attempt to qualify for the race. So the qualifying rounds are going to be intense in the Xfinity Series event.

Where to watch the Talladega race?
