National Reporter Confirms Eli Manning’s Eligibility for Giants Ownership After John Mara’s Raiders Approach for $7.3 Billion Franchise

Big moves are happening in the Big Apple. The New York Giants have officially put a chunk of their franchise up for grabs—10% of it, to be exact. With the team valued between $7.3 billion and $7.85 billion, that minority stake could cost around $730 million. That’s a huge price tag, but in today’s NFL, it’s not uncommon. Teams like the Eagles, Bills, and Dolphins have also sold pieces of their ownership recently, especially since the league now allows private equity firms to buy in. And one name keeps surfacing in the ownership conversation, and if it happens, it would be a monumental moment for Giants fans: Eli Manning.

Well, several reporters have recently conducted research on this topic. And guess what? After some digging, reporter Mike Florio discovered some solid evidence. This was highlighted by the writer in his recent report on Eli Manning’s interest in purchasing the Giants. Florio highlighted a 2022 interview where the renowned quarterback claimed that he wants to own the team he previously played for. This was something he had wanted to accomplish for a long time, but he never imagined the Giants would want a minority owner.

Fast forward to 2024, Eli Manning now has a solid chance to make his dream come true. During the 2022 interview, Manning’s statement was, “It’s of interest, it’s just got to be the right fit. I don’t think the Giants are going to be for sale anytime soon.” This statement could be a big hint about what’s going on behind the scenes. Because the team has not shared anything so far and most probably is not going to in the future too.

Manning’s already dipped his toes into sports ownership. In August 2022, he became a minority owner of NJ/NY Gotham FC, a National Women’s Soccer League team. Plus, he’s involved with Brand Velocity Group, a private equity firm. The problem? The NFL hasn’t approved private equity ownership for teams just yet, so if Manning wants in, he might have to do it on his own—or partner with an approved investor.

The Giants when announced on NFL.com that, after careful contemplation, they are looking for a minority owner. Then, they clearly indicated that they would not disclose to anyone how far the agreement has proceeded or who they are in talks with about the stakes. The announcement was, “The Mara and Tisch families have retained Moelis & Company to explore the potential sale of a minority, non-controlling stake in the New York Giants. There will be no further comment in regard to the process.”

John Mara’s abrupt decision to sell a 10% stake has been getting linked to the Raiders. Both of these deals share many similarities. But can Manning replicate Brady’s move with the Giants?

Can Eli Manning and the Giants take the same route as the Raiders and Tom Brady?

Well, things are currently looking a bit confusing in this scenario. So why don’t we start from the Raiders deal first? If you recall, the team revealed shortly after the 2023 season that they were searching for a minority owner. And Tom Brady took advantage of the situation and fulfilled his dream of having an NFL team. He locked in this deal alongside Tom Wagner. They each spent $220 million in cash to acquire the team’s 10% ownership. Now, the Giants. They, too, can follow the route, with Eli Manning serving as their Brady.

After the Raiders’ disappointing season this year, Brady recognized he needed to make some adjustments. The quarterback even intimated that the team would be very different next year, with a fresh mindset. This sparked Raiders fans, and the team has already received a lot of support and hope. In short, this move was best for the business of the team. Now that the seven-time Super Bowl Champion is looking after the team it’s obvious the team would do good. And with that hope, fans are generating a lot of craze for the team.

The Giants can do the same thing, and if Manning comes in, he can make some significant improvements that the franchise desperately needs. New York did not have a fantastic season and finished with one of the poorest records. Manning coming in can not only come in handy in football but also for the business. But will this move allow them to turn the tide in 2025? Let’s wait and see what occurs. Until then, stay tuned for more updates.
