We’re down to the final four in the big dance. And for just the second time ever, all four No. 1 seeds have made it to the Final Four. The last time this happened? It was also in San Antonio. Talk about history repeating itself! But there’s another storyline stealing the spotlight this time. One that’s got everyone talking. Three of the four head coaches still standing are Jewish. Yep, you read that right!
Auburn’s Bruce Pearl. Florida’s Todd Golden. Duke’s Jon Scheyer. Three coaches chasing one goal—cutting down the nets and making their program the best in the country. But there’s more than just basketball linking them. All three share a special connection. Each of them has strong ties to Israel. “As a young Jewish boy growing up in Boston, I would have been proud” of three Jewish head coaches leading the sport, Pearl said Friday ahead of Auburn’s tie against Florida.
These three aren’t the only Jewish coaches who’ve made noise in March Madness. As we inch closer to the Final Four showdown, it’s the perfect time to look back. A chance to celebrate and rank the Jewish coaches who’ve taken college basketball by storm.
