European players in the NBA are a growing breed. In fact, Celtics‘ Neemias Queta is the only Portuguese player to ever step onto an NBA floor. As far as personal records and achievements go, there’s not a lot higher for our resident Tuga.
The problem is that the Celts are stacked to the brim with talent. With Al Holford and Kristaps Porzingis, it’s hard for Queta to get into the 5. But he’s still in his early years, and they’ve given him enough confidence of a bright future with regular minutes and a good contract. So what does that contract look like?
What is Neemias Queta’s NBA salary? How much does he make in a year?
When Neemias Esdras Barbosa Queta was drafted into the NBA by the Kings in 2021, he signed two consecutive two-way contracts, allowing him to play for their G League affiliates. After shining for the Kings’ summer league winning team and promising performances for the Stockton and Sacramento squads, he signed his first pro contract with them for 2 years worth $4,216,676. But due to not being a viable option in the team long term, he was unfortunately waived the next month.
Enter Boston Celtics. They saw his potential and snapped him up on a two-way contract in 2023 that allowed him to play for the Maine Celtics in the G League at the same time. This paid off really well- as the Tommy Award recipient notched two double-doubles against the Warriors and the Clippers in December 2023. Along with that, he was the Maine’s star center in their run to the G League finals. What was his reward? His first standard contract with the Greens on April 2024.
To show their faith in Neemias Queta’s future, Boston laid down a 3-year, $7,180,128 contract in July 2024. In the current year, he’s earning $2,162,606, which comprises 1.54% of the league cap. And with just an average of 14.4 minutes per game, his box numbers are quite commendable. He’s averaging 5.1 points and 3.9 boards while shooting a ridiculous 64.4% from the field as center.

With increasing games and minutes comes an increase in remuneration. He’s set to earn $2,349,578 in the upcoming season, which is just 1.52% of the league cap.
What are Neemias Queta’s investments and endorsements?
He’s quite early in his career to have the mouth-watering financial portfolio most of his peers do. But the biggest achievement on this front is his Adidas deal. While there are no specific details of the deal, multiple reports point to him being endorsed by the German sporting giants. He’s seen wearing the Adidas AE1 Lows, Adidas Crazy 8s, and the Trae Unlimited. With his career trajectory, he’s sure to get one for himself soon too.
The only listed investment on his profile is for the Portuguese basketball startup Hoopers. The company connects fans, brands, and basketball players through both digital and physical products, and Queta is listed as a business angel investor along with WNBA Hall of Famer Ticha Penicheiro. Their investment helped them close a €2.1 million seed funding round.
All these are positive signs for a young import looking to make a name for himself in the majors. “He’s just grown a lot as a player, and quite honestly, he doesn’t know how good he can be. He’s got a great ceiling, so the standard is very high. I thought he did some great things for us tonight. When you’re as good as he can be, we all gotta hold him to that standard every single night,” said Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla after his blinder against the Hawks in November 2024 with 10 points, seven rebounds, and a block.

At just 25 years of age, Neemias Queta still has a ton to prove. Even Coach Mazzulla speaks of his untapped potential. As the only Portuguese import, he has a country full of Tugas on his back, cheering him game-in, game-out.
