With no Al Horford and Luke Kornet, the responsibility for the Celtics’ next big man reportedly falls on Neemias Queta. But with the luck the Boston franchise is currently having with injuries, even their 26-year-old star is not immune to them. But just like Jayson Tatum, who underwent surgery, even his Portuguese teammate did the same. So, now, where does it leave him in terms of recovery?
“I don’t think it’s easy,” Queta said of his recovery. “I’ve had a couple before, but I was pretty much rehabbing and just getting strength back into the leg and stuff … we did a lot of the same drills, it’s just different in the aspect of ok, you gotta make sure you eat even better. It’s pretty much a new me and we just want to get it the best possible way we can right away so we have a high ceiling or a high standard … whether it gets set back every now and then, we know we started at a great spot for now.”
The 7-foot star underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee and returned to the floor earlier in July for conditioning. He also said, “I want to make sure I’m healthy and get back to 100% and I feel like I’m on the right path to do that.” A promising update, similar to Jayson Tatum. Although the 6x All-Star is expected to miss the majority of the next season, his offseason appearance has given fans a lot of hope. He appeared without a walking boot — meaning the recovery is way ahead of schedule. But then a picture reminded everyone of the true extent of the injury.
“Difference in Tatum’s leg sizes is actually insane man.” Why insane? Because the right leg, which gave out against the Knicks, has no muscle in comparison to his left leg. Maybe the expectation of his return is very premature?
