The Chiefs have made some big moves this offseason, but not all of them are sitting well with NFL insiders. Trading away Joe Thuney, using the franchise tag on Trey Smith, and letting Justin Reid walk were already questionable decisions. But another move from earlier in free agency is still raising eyebrows: the signing of offensive lineman Jaylon Moore.
One league executive isn’t sold on Moore’s fit in Kansas City. “He has had durability issues, he has never been a front-line player, and he’s been protected in a system that is not dropback-heavy, so I do not love that move,” the exec reportedly said.

The Chiefs admitted after their Super Bowl loss that they miscalculated Patrick Mahomes‘ protection. And this offseason, they’ve been trying to fix that. But instead of making a splash signing, they’re betting on a lineman with concerns about consistency and durability. Meanwhile, the Chiefs also let Justin Reid walk, with the safety landing a $31.5 million deal with the Saints. One exec called him an “underrated enforcer” and questioned whether Kansas City will regret moving on from him. At the end of the day, the Chiefs are asking Mahomes to do more with less. Will these moves pay off or backfire?
This is a developing story. Stay tuned…
