NFL Rumors: Jalen Hurts’ Offense in Jeopardy Over 8-Figure Weapon as Eagles Lower Dallas Goedert Asking Price

Winning a championship comes with more than just rings. There’s the confetti shower, the champagne, the parade down Broad Street. And even a little stroll around the White House. It’s all glory until the draft board comes out and you realize one slight disadvantage of your success: you get the last pick in the draft. By the time you’re on the clock, the cream of the crop is long gone. So, what do you do if you want to add a top-tier prospect to your roster? Yep, you’ve got to go the trade route. Jalen Hurts’ Philadelphia Eagles are in a similar situation this draft. But they’re looking to shake things up a little, because the team is eyeing someone from the top 10.

When you want the cream, you’ve got to pay big. And if the word on the street is true, the Eagles might be lining up a trade that could shake their offense.  Rumor has it the team is seriously considering a deal that would send their star wideout, AJ Brown, to the Patriots. In return, Philly would snag the fourth overall pick in the draft. And who’s worth that kind of shake-up? None other than Penn State’s defensive monster, Abdul Carter.

It is believed in #NFL circles that if Abdul Carter slides down to 4 that the #Eagles and #Patriots could have a discussion for AJ Brown. #NFLDraft2025 https://t.co/xHhTbki4Hd

Brown signed a $96 million deal with Philly last year, an eight-figure contract that locks him in through 2029. Originally drafted by the Titans in 2019, he joined the Eagles in 2022 when the team traded him for the 18th overall pick. Interestingly, when the WR made his NFL debut, Mike Vrabel was the head coach in Tennessee. So, could it be that AJ and Vrabel are on track for a reunion?

If the Eagles decide to trade Brown, they’d be letting go of a serious weapon on their offense. Over his three-year career with Philly, the 27-year-old has racked up 4,031 yards on 261 catches with 25 TDs. Along with fellow WR DeVonta Smith and QB Jalen Hurts, Brown holds the Philly offense together like glue.

Well, the AJ trade talk isn’t the only speculation floating around this week. There’s also word out there that Philly wants to move on from TE Dallas Goedert sooner rather than later.

Philly lowers asking price for Dallas Goedert

Howie Roseman has been exploring trade options for TE Dallas Goedert over the past few months. Goedert wanted an extension, but with him turning 30 this January, the team is hesitant to keep him on the roster. Generally, Roseman is good at finding win-win deals, but he hasn’t been able to strike one for Goedert so far. The TE has been on the trade block for a while now, and with the draft getting closer, there might be teams keeping an eye on Goedert.

But no franchise seems eager to pay a hefty price for the deal. Jordan Schultz of FOX Sports wrote on X, “Interested teams believe Philadelphia would be open to future picks if they don’t receive 2025 draft capital. Goedert is in the final year of his deal, and he could be looking for a new contract as well.

Drafted in 2018, Goedert has been on Philly’s roster for seven seasons now. However, over the last three seasons, the TE has missed 15 games due to injuries. This season, too, he missed three games after suffering a hamstring injury. His injury history is a huge reason why Philly might not want to offer him a long-term contract. Now, the fact that they’ve reportedly lowered their asking price to future picks speaks volumes about how eager the team is to find a trade for him.

Philly did the same with Haason Reddick last year when they couldn’t find a trade for him. The team lowered his asking price, accepted a third-round pick in the 2026 draft, and shipped the edge rusher to the Jets. So, could they repeat that move with Dallas, too, if the right offer comes along?
