Things changed last year for Stefon Diggs when his 2 year contract with the Bills got cut short to a 1-year, $22.52 million deal. He was coming off six straight 1000+ yards seasons from the Vikings and the Bills. In 4 years with the Bills, he even had 100+ receptions each year. But there were instances when he vented his frustration. Last year, during the free agency, a fan of Josh Allen commented on social media that a top-tier receiver was not crucial to the quarterback’s success. But Diggs took offense and replied, “You sure?” Fast forward one year, and things have taken a complete 180-degree turn.
In a move that surprised many, Stefon Diggs posted all his photos from his stint with the Bills on his Instagram account. That’s surprising, as he is a free agent. Texans earlier released their 15-year veteran LS Jon Weeks. Loyalty didn’t bring much trust in the franchise to offer him a deal. So, Diggs is also vying to find a spot in another franchise.

The Bills Mafia would love to have him back in the fold, as he brings explosive power—something that could give them an edge over their AFC rivals, the Chiefs. But to make that happen, they would need to overlook past issues. At one point, an employee claimed he was difficult to work with. Additionally, his attitude and performance declined over time.
First, he skipped the mandatory minicamp during the 2023 offseason. Second, on the field, he was seen yelling at head coach Sean McDermott while waiting for the ball. Third, during the AFC Championship game against the Chiefs in the 2023 playoffs, he dropped two crucial passes—the second, a 64-yard pass, slipped straight through his arms. The Bills lost the game 24-27. It was a painful defeat, and unfortunately, they couldn’t change the outcome this year either, falling 29-32.
This might have forced them to reconsider one of the best free-agent wide receivers in the league. There were rumors of him being a Steelers’ favorite as well. But they didn’t show much interest. Other teams are joining the race.
Stefon Diggs touted to join Super Bowl-winning coach
Amid all of this drama unfolding, the top receiver surprised the fans, forcing them to get used to the changing league landscape. It’s none other than the GOAT-owned Raiders. They needed an HC, and their search ended with Super Bowl winner Pete Carroll. The former Seahawks coach started off the wave of change by bringing in a new QB, Geno Smith. He was spotted with the receiver recently.
An ACL injury cut short Stefon Diggs’ 2024 season. However, he and Smith recently shared a video with fans, showing them working out together—Smith consistently passing the ball to Diggs. The wide receiver looked sharp, displaying full athleticism and quick reflexes.
But the big question remains: Will they sign him? In eight games last season (all as a starter), he recorded 47 receptions for 496 yards and three touchdowns. The Texans clearly missed his presence in the playoffs, as they fell to the Chiefs 23-14 in the AFC Divisional Round.
The game is on, but other teams are also making their moves. Even the Jets want to sign him up for their new QB, Justin Fields. It would be crazy to see how things pan out there.
Known for his quirkiness, Stefon Diggs is silent. He is patiently waiting for things to unfold. For the fans, it’s nerve-wracking! They want stability in their roster before the draft comes into the picture.
