Jazz Chisholm Jr. doesn’t just play baseball—he simply lights it up. Everything he does is over the top, from the flashy hair to the ice around his neck, and the bat flips which are as smooth as they can be. One thing is for sure: the New York Yankee player is not here to blend in but rather to stand out. But then, being bold and different can sometimes lead someone to a mess.
And this is exactly what happened on Thursday as Chisholm Jr. faced the Tampa Bay Rays. Everything was going great for the New York Yankees with a 6-3 score. But in the top of the seventh, Chisholm got himself into a controversy. So, he was rung up on a pitch that looked low—very low.
But Chisholm didn’t want to accept it and immediately took it up with the umpire, John Bacon. What’s next? He was ejected! But what happened after is even more controversial. But it’s something Chisholm Jr. still stands by now.
Jazz Chisholm Jr. said part of the reason why he’s appealing the suspension is because he feels there is some gray area — he tweeted while the game was still going on, but he had just been ejected so he was not in it anymore. His hearing is next week, he said.

Jazz Chisholm Jr. still fired up from the ejection, took to X and posted,“ “Not even f—— close.” The major problem was—he was still in the clubhouse when he posted it. Even though he soon deleted it, MLB was quick to notice, and he was slapped with a suspension. Not for the argument on the field, but for breaking the policy of social media, which prohibits the use of electronic devices during the games. But he even appealed the suspension.
Chisholm Jr. is still unbothered and also clarified, “I don’t really care if I win or not. I think it’s about freedom of speech. That’s why I appealed it.” However, this policy is nothing new, and if you remember the Ozzie Guillen case, you know. He was suspended for not one but two games in 2011 for tweeting about a called strike he was ejected from. But the New York Yankees star argues that there seems to be some gray area in this policy. Given that he was not in his uniform and was already tossed out of the game. So according to him, since the game was over, why does the policy still apply? The appeal hearing is next week.
Jazz Chisholm Jr. chomping on the Yankees’ hitting coach!
Jazz Chisholm Jr. has been lights out this season. It’s only April, and he has six home runs under his belt. If he keeps up this way, he is very much on his way to hitting his career high of 24 from last season. This is great news for the New York Yankees. But for their Yankees hitting coach Pat Roessler, not so much. No, literally. Because every time Chisholm Jr. hits one out of the park, he bites Roessler. Yes, he bites him on his shoulder. Like some kind of celebration for vampires.
No one really understands why he does that or where he picked it up from. The New York Daily News did try to get to the bottom of this quirky new habit. Chisholm said it’s just his love for his coach. “He works with me every day and talks to me every day. He treats all of us like his sons, and you can’t ask for better from a hitting coach. To always be there for you no matter what you’re going through, nothing changes. He stays by your side.”
And that loyalty really goes a long way. Chisholm Jr. was actually in a bad slump this month. What made it worse was his absolute hate for the cold weather. This is where Roessler kept his spirits high and sunny instead of low and blue. As for Roessler, he is taking getting chomped on like a champ. “He’s very playful,” the coach said. Well, clearly, he doesn’t like being a chew toy to Chisolm Jr., but he is just being polite.
Meanwhile, Austin Wells is back behind the plate and won the battle with the mystery meal that made him ill. So to sum it all up, the Yankees have had a wild, weird, and also wonderful start this time. Don’t you think? Let us know!
