NYC Mayoral Candidate Sought La La Anthony’s Help as 45YO Actress Seemingly Steps Into Politics

When celebrity prestige and City Hall collide, the power plays go far beyond campaign signs. Last week, an ex-Governor slipped into Harlem for an unofficial strategy session—over lunch—with Brooklyn’s own La La Anthony. As cameras rolled at Melba Wilson’s famed Harlem eatery and posts lit up Instagram, the question on every voter’s mind was clear: Is this just a photo-op or a prelude to a political partnership that could reshape the 2025 mayoral race?

Born in Brooklyn and having been part of New York for so many years, La La Anthony knows the city better than anyone. Moreover, the actress has been involved in several charity efforts for the place. She even has a block named in her honor—‘La La Anthony Lane’—in recognition of her ongoing work through ThreeSixty.

As the frontrunner in the 2025 mayoral primary, Andrew Cuomo toured Harlem with Anthony, meeting local small-business owners and nonprofit leaders. Both Anthony and the NYC mayoral candidate shared pictures on IG. One of the pictures was of the two posing with Wilson at her restaurant. In his caption, Cuomo also mentioned that he plans to work with Anthony on her charity efforts!  As Cuomo’s campaign camera rolled, hehe was laying groundwork for a joint push on re-entry services, a pillar of his “Get NYC Back on Track” platform that stresses public-safety and community investment.

“Great to have lunch this afternoon with my good friends, @lala and Melba at @melbasharlem and talk to New Yorkers about our campaign to get NYC back on track! I’m looking forward to partnering with @lala in her work to provide re-entry tools and to in all ways make our city safer and stronger for all,” the caption read. It wouldn’t be wrong to hope for new updates on this soon.

Her nonprofit, ThreeSixty, focuses on Rikers Island inmates—providing mentorship, vocational training, and mental-health resources. Anthony also reshared the post on her IG Story. “So great catching up!” she wrote. In another post, she wrote, Just had an amazing lunch with my friend. Early voting starts June 14th; Make sure you all go vote for him. People were so excited to see him in Harlem,” he wrote.

Apart from her impactful work with Three Sixty, Carmelo Anthony’s ex-wife is deeply committed to various other charitable initiatives.

La La Anthony’s heartwarming gesture in the Bronx

On December 11, 2024, La La Anthony transformed Mott Haven’s Gauchos Gym into a winter escape for over 400 underserved children—her 7th annual Winter Wonderland charity event. Partnering once again with Delsym as presenting sponsor, Anthony rallied Girls Inc., the NYPD Police Athletic League, and Young Women’s Christian Academy to bring kids aged 8–16 a day of festive magic.

“I can’t believe it’s seven years now doing this. But Delsym has signed on as the presenting sponsor this year, which is something I’m incredibly excited about. I’ve worked with them in the past on their ‘Bring Comfort Home’ campaign, and I just love Delsym’s values. They align with mine, family, bringing people together,” she told The Blast.

This gathering took place at The Gaucho Gym in Mott Haven, bringing together community members and supporters. Love & Hip Hop’s Paris Phillips emceed the event, while Anthony’s son, Kiyan, joined the festivities, bringing extra holiday cheer, given it was the same gym where he first learned basketball fundamentals.

The evening featured live performances by Bay Swag, Cash Cobain, Honey Bxby, and Mizz; dance competitions; arts-and-crafts stations; photo booths; and a holiday dinner catered by Eat Clean Bro.

The event was sponsored by Delsym. Delsym—an American cough suppressant—returned for a second year to power the hot-chocolate cart and gift giveaways. “They understood my vision for community uplift,” Anthony told Forbes. Their ‘Bring Comfort Home’ campaign aligns with ThreeSixty’s values of family and togetherness. Since its inception in 2018, Winter Wonderland has welcomed over 2,500 Bronx children, providing not just a festive escape but also access to mentorship and local resources.

This was the New York Knicks legend’s ex-wife’s second time teaming up with the company. Anthony excitedly detailed the hot chocolate cart prepared by Delsym. Anthony continues to use her platform to uplift and give back to the community!
