Aja Sims-Fletcher, the then-head gymnastics coach of Talladega College, had an idea about her exceptional front tuck. That’s why two years ago, she said, “I saw something in her, kind of like a spark and an energy that was really, really inviting.” The satisfaction of soaring her high impressed Aja to the extent that she kept on adding, “And I was like, wow, you are very good, and I would love for you to be a part of this team.” Words like these perfectly demonstrate Diamond Cook. However, she isn’t a Talladega gymnast anymore. But could this fact clip her wings on the mat?
No. In fact, Diamond is shining again, this time in Wilberforce University’s leotard. On April 11, she earned her ticket to the National event finals (floor) from the 1-year-old program, being the first one from the bunch.
