The golf viewership has taken a hit and the PGA Tour has been hit with a flurry of suggestions recently to address the same. The slow-play concerns have been going around the grid for some time. Now, on top of that, Paige Spiranac’s ex-rival dropped another suggestion to the people heading the PGA Tour.
The influencer took to Twitter and appealed to her fans with a “Hear me out.” She then went on to suggest that the PGA Tour change the format of golf tournaments, at least on occasion. “1-day golf tournaments on the @PGATOUR”
Hear me out…
1-day golf tournaments on the @PGATOUR

The proposition might have been in good faith from the Cactus Tour professional, considering the issues plaguing the PGA Tour. However, the netizens took it the other way. The influencer, well-known for her rivalry with Paige Spiranac, was not doing any favor to the golfing fans with what was certainly not a popular suggestion.
The 27-year-old Ostrom is going through a rough patch due to a series of incidents, including a scary incident at home, where she was stalked by someone who gave $50,000 to her fake account and was demanding it back from her. She also got scammed by her new editor, who blocked her after agreeing to have new content ready within a time period.
This post did not do much to ease the misfortune that has followed Hailey Rae Ostrom. One user was clear and concise as to his thoughts on the idea she propagated. “Hard pass,” is what he had to say with regards to revamping the PGA Tour’s tournament concept.
Netizens troll Spiranac’s ex-rival mercilessly
Other users were more vocal and wordy about their opinions. Incredulity knew no bounds with one user’s reply to Ostrom’s post. He went overboard with added suggestions to the influencer’s concept in a sarcastic manner. “Why not play just 9 holes? Why leave the house? This desire to tear everything won and change it…. its exhausting. And most of the millennials pushing for it = not that bright” This user’s response is a clear indicator of aversion to any changes to the current format by shortening it.
Another fan made it clear that this could be one of the worst suggestions or ideas he heard on social media. He was clear when he said, “this might be the worst hear me out I’ve ever heard.” It seems Paige Spiranac’s rival is not far behind in garnering criticism like she received sexist remarks for her outfit on social media in 2024.
One fan brought some context concerning why this might not be the best idea out there. The PGA Tour already has a similar concept happening with their Monday Qualifiers. The Qualifiers feature an 18-hole stroke play tournament where the winners get a chance to compete in the main event.
However, The PGA Tour is trying to reduce Monday Qualifiers actively behind the scenes, with several tournaments like the Sony Open and the WM Phoenix Open phasing it out. “They are called Monday Qualifiers and the tour is doing their best to get rid of them just ask @acaseofthegolf1”
One of the users ridiculously suggested that something must have happened to Ostrom that has forced her to put forth such a suggestion.“You done bumped your head!” quipped the netizen, suggesting that the idea must be a result of some head injury that Ostrom had sustained.
Either way, Ostrom is trying to come up with an idea to make the golfing product more exciting for the new generation of viewers, which is something the PGA Tour is also trying to do. However, her idea might be a bit too extreme for the current golfing sensibilities. What do you think?
