Patrick Mahomes Joins ‘Backlog of Investors’ as NFL’s Agency Prez Confirms America’s Interest in WNBA

Looks like Patrick Mahomes‘ dream of owning a WNBA club has taken a significant knock. Everyone knows that the quarterback and his wife, Brittany Mahomes, dearly want to own a Kansas City WNBA team. The couple wants their kids to grow up watching a variety of sports so that they can pursue any of their interests. And for that, they want to have one team in every sports league possible. While this may be a fantastic strategy, its execution will undoubtedly cost them a lot. And, given recent market demand, it appears that prices can go OFF THE CHARTS.

At the MIT Sloan Sports Conference, the demand for WNBA franchises was explained. And oh boy, it’s more than what you think. Initially, the talk was about whether women are getting what they deserve in sports. But this conversation took a dramatic turn when Mark Shapiro disclosed that the time for fretting about women’s sports is long gone. The Endeavor President and COO revealed how there are a lot of millionaires looking to invest in WNBA franchises. And a lot here means A LOT! Patrick Mahomes is also expected to appear somewhere in this backlog of investors.

Mark Shapiro gave the explanation for the queue as the WNBA’s extreme popularity in recent years. And you know what? According to estimates, it will continue to increase at an exponential rate. Shapiro explained all these claims, “Right now it’s getting your hands on the teams. There’s a backlog of investors looking for a WNBA team right now. The demand is once again outstripping the supply and they, of course, have to weigh how many new teams they want to launch and not dilute the product.”

Patrick Mahomes is very interested in introducing a Kansas City WNBA club. The quarterback already co-owns the Kansas City Royals (MLB), Kansas City Current (NWSL), and Sporting KC (MLS). All of this shows Mahomes’ affection for KC. And a KC team in the WNBA can complete his collection of sports teams.

And Patrick Mahomes wants that all these teams so that his kids can closely observe every team. He does not want to introduce his kids to any form of sports. Instead, he intends to “stay out of the way” and let their sports hobbies grow gradually, similar to the approach his own parents adopted. Mahomes has even stated that bringing a WNBA team to Kansas City is “kind of a no-brainer”. And this shows that the QB is hands-down anticipating this potential team. And he has already recieved recognition from one of the most prominent WNBA players.

Caitlin Clark also wants Patrick Mahomes to realize his dreams

If you are a major player in any league, you always have one goal in mind: to expand your league. The WNBA has recently grown in prominence, yet it is still in its early stages. Even if it has a lot of promise, the addition of some more teams can help the league gain a lot of popularity. And Caitlin Clark is also thinking along those lines. The 23-year-old basketball star has consistently amazed viewers with her abilities. And now she truly wants other players to surprise her instead.

Yep! That’s right. Clark appeared on one of the episodes of the New Heights Podcast. Yep! the same podcast that Patrick Mahomes’ teammate Travis Kelce and his brother Jason Kelce host. There Caitlin discussed a potential idea for how Patrick Mahomes’ dreams can benefit the WNBA. She remarked that Kansas City has a lot of skill and that their players can truly shine on the court. This is the reason why she is on board with Mahomes’ plan: “Women’s basketball could be great there, so I’d support it.”

This is also one of the reasons Patrick Mahomes is aiming to make the Kansas City WNBA squad. He too claims that the people there still have a lot to offer for the sports, “Let’s bring as many sports here and showcase how great Kansas City is—not only as a city but through the people in it as well”.
