Patrick Mahomes’ Mother Randi Breaks Rivalry Boundaries to Celebrate Travis Hunter’s Incredible Draft Success with His Mom

Oh, the glory that Travis Hunter brought to his mom, Ferrante Edmonds! There’s always something beautiful about football moms linking up. Well, this year’s draft gave us a moment that just hit different.

When the Jacksonville Jaguars traded up for Travis Hunter as the second overall pick, he didn’t just make history in Colorado. He gave his mom the ultimate flex — sharing a celebration with none other than Randi Mahomes. Yep, that queen behind only one of the greatest current QBs in the NFL, 3x Super Bowl champ and MVP Patrick Mahomes.

Ferrante Edmonds got to live out every football mom’s dream. On April 26, she reposted Randi Mahomes’ IG story, which had the caption — “Another big congratulations to Travis Hunter for being the second pick in the Draft! My girl [Ferrante Edmonds] @justicesforall and I were matching in the red at the brunch! Loved connecting with such a fabulous Mama!” In the picture, the pair of mamas donned red outfits as they united over a brunch at Academy, the first-ever Ultimate Sports Parent Brunch at the Draft, designed to celebrate the mothers of young players making their big transitions. This was one of those full-circle moments that cut through all the rivalry noises.

Ahead of the big draft night, Ferrante poured out her heart on Facebook. You could feel the emotion off the screen. She was sitting in the presence of every prayer she ever whispered for her son. Tonight… I don’t need sleep,” she wrote. “I need to sit in the presence of every prayer I ever prayed for my son. I remember the scraped knees… The late-night practices… The dreams that felt too big for the room.” Mothers of aspiring athletes would relate better than anybody else. Her efforts paid off. Her prayers were answered. And the draft magic happened.

Jaguars GM James Gladstone and HC Liam Coen weren’t messing around. They traded the house up, sacrificing their No. 5, 36, and 126 picks in 2025 and even their R1 pick in 2026. That’s how much they believe in the two-way phenomenal talent in Travis Hunter. They knew he was a unicorn.

The HC even revealed they plan to build around their top selection: We’re going to set that up that way from a schedule, from an operations standpoint, the way that we’re going to operate for him, to set him up to have the most success that he can, then help the Jacksonville Jaguars become the best version of ourselves.

As for Ferrante Edmonds, her post-draft FB message was a proud photo of her and her son smiling at each other. And if you think that’s just a flash, feel-good moment, think again.

Travis Hunter is a dutiful, thoughtful son

It was last March, before the draft buzz got real. Travis Hunter already stole hearts with his generous gesture when he was sitting in Boulder with a $2.4 million NIL valuation. He surprised his mom with a brand-new 3-bedroom house to an upgraded 5-bedroom house in Savannah, miles away from their old 3-bedroom house where five kids once crammed into every inch of space. It was her birthday gift. Hunter didn’t just dream big for himself, he has big dreams for his whole family.

Now, the numbers are about to match the dreams. Travis Hunter is looking at a 4-year, $46.5 million rookie deal containing over $30 million signing bonus. It’s going to be a life-altering upgrade. He’s basically locking down generational wealth before his first NFL snap. And he can’t wait to get started. He’s already in Jacksonville meeting with the staff and getting a tour and feel of the franchise which is now his new home close to his hometown in West Palm Beach.

In the end, it’s Ferrante Edmonds’ presence that stitches all these moments together. And sitting there with Randi Mahomes, she wasn’t just celebrating a draft pick. She was celebrating a lifetime of faith, sacrifice, and unbreakable belief. Travis Hunter may be the headline but his mom is the foundation.
