PGA Tour Insider Drops Truth Bomb After Bryson DeChambeau Was Allegedly Ignored During Masters TV Coverage

First, the masters started on a bittersweet note with delayed coverage, and immediately, fans were calling out the sports channels. Now, if you’ve been wondering why Bryson DeChambeau’s electric performance at Augusta isn’t lighting up your TV screen, you’re not alone. Despite playing some of his best golf at the 2025 Masters, DeChambeau faced thin coverage. Like him, Phil Mickelson‘s incredible 8-under performance was barely featured, and networks like ESPN and CBS faced major criticism for what many called biased coverage during the 2023 season.

Now, it’s almost like déjà vu for The Scientist at this year’s Masters, and unfortunately, it’s not a good thing. After an incredible second round that saw him shoot a four-under-par 68, DeChambeau sits comfortably at seven-under overall, just one shot behind leader Justin Rose. But what’s the point if the buildup was not covered properly? Easing the backlash, the official Masters account on X (formerly Twitter) shared a few highlights from DeChambeau’s second round. Still, it wasn’t nearly enough to satisfy die-hard golf fans who expected more from the broadcast. So, why did this happen?

Back in 2020, he famously called the course a “par-67,” due to his towering drives, which didn’t sit well with many traditionalists. Since then, his relationship with the course and the media has been a bit strained. It could be a reason, but this year, he’s shown a more respectful, mature approach

What is the audience saying?

With viewers continuing to question the coverage, PGA Tour insider Dan Rapaport stepped in with some context. Taking to his X handle, he wrote: “Masters media remains undefeated. Saw people complaining online about not seeing Bryson in featured groups—despite being able to see all of his shots live on site on 4, 5, 6, 11, 12, 13, 15, 16 and immediately thereafter on the app—and posted a cut-down video of his ENTIRE round.

But that hasn’t stopped the conversation from heating up. While DeChambeau is sidelined, Max Homa, who’s had his share of struggles, including a wild shot that hit a caddie in round one, is getting plenty of on-air attention. The contrast hasn’t gone unnoticed, and fans are starting to question whether there’s more to the story. Is it just a matter of broadcast logistics, or something deeper?

Adding fuel to the fire, rapper Lil Wayne—an outspoken supporter of LIV Golf—also chimed in. “The Masters blew it w this lack of coverage on Bryson!!! They gotta stop hatin on the LIV shit. This man is killin’ it out there and I can’t watch,” he posted on X. Honestly, this isn’t the first time a LIV golfer has been on the receiving end of this kind of treatment.

It’s hard not to see this as a deeper issue with the sport’s media. DeChambeau is undoubtedly one of the most exciting players out there, yet his absence from major broadcasts makes you wonder if there’s still some resistance toward LIV Golf players. Despite his obvious talent, it’s clear that some golf institutions aren’t reflecting it with coverage times. Do you think we’ll get to see the second one on the leaderboard more?
