Alexis Ohanian has been collecting these cards for the past six years now. He has now amassed more than 4500 cards of his wife Serena Williams to preserve the legacy of the 23-time Grand Slam champion for their future grandkids and great-grandkids to cherish. Talking about the real purpose behind that, he once said, “The whole plan for this is that like grandkids, great grandkids, they’ll have this collection and probably a hundred years from now, museums will want to put pieces of this up for the public display. But I don’t want our grandkids to ever have to go to museums to see someone else’s possession. They should be the ones renting it out. So that’s why we got the greatest collection of all time for you [Serena Williams].“
Ohanian also revealed once that the first card he collected of his wife was “one of the glossies,” which had vibrant colors with a shiny finish. He purchased it back in 2019. In September 2023, he even showed off his sister-in-law, Venus Williams’ Netpro trading card while also searching for Rookie Cards of Federer and Nadal. He expressed his excitement as he revealed that he had found a 2003 NetPro – Glossy International Series Preview #P3 Venus Williams card. Ohanian captioned his IG story, writing, “Broke a box today – chasing 500 @serenawilliams / @venuswilliams. or @rogerfederer / Rafa tbh — all great RCs.“
Ohanian then tagged Venus and wrote, “Good morning, sis This should grade pretty well, too – that top left corner tho @venuswilliams.” Yesterday, the Reddit co-founder shared another Venus Williams tennis card on his IG stories. The card from Sports Illustrated Kids featured glimpses of young Venus Williams, with her beads, playing at Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. Ohanian captioned that post, writing, “Gotta carefully tear these @venuswilliams unofficial RCs….“

Apart from tennis stars, Alexis Ohanian has a wide range of collections featuring several superstars from Formula 1, basketball, golf, and even soccer. He once shared that his daughter Olympia was also getting into the hobby of collecting soccer trading cards. In 2023, he shared glimpses of Olympia proudly displaying a collection of Parkside Collectibles trading cards. “It begins… I’m getting Jr. into the hobby,” he wrote on his X handle.
Does Ohanian collect these cards, particularly of the Williams sisters, just out of passion or something else?
