Expect all women’s domestic games to have a different atmosphere this week. Why, you ask? Because Sunday, May 11, marks Mother’s Day 2025, adding a heartfelt layer to every matchup. While women’s leagues across the board will be celebrating players, coaches, and staff in unique ways, the NWSL appears to be leading the charge. That’s evident from the heartwarming gift Racing Louisville veteran Arin Wright received—from none other than her adorable son!
It was shared by the Lavenders just before their Friday night’s match week 8 clash, where they’ll be hosting Gotham FC at Lynn Family Stadium. Being a captain of Louisville, it’s obvious Wright dons her captain armband. And it’s something that even her family takes pride in, but not more than her five-year-old son Grady.
In fact, to mark the occasion of Mother’s Day—and to honor his own mom—the toddler decided to borrow her captain’s armband and add his own personal touches. Grady took a sketch pen and drew what appeared to be Wright, himself, and a heart. On the other side, he wrote a short message for the defender that read, “Love you.”
The gesture quickly caught the eye of Racing Louisville, who didn’t hesitate to share it on their social media, along with a caption that read, “The cutest”—a sentiment that, no doubt, echoed everyone’s feelings.
