Following Rory McIlroy’s historic achievement as the sixth player to complete a career Grand Slam, attention now shifts towards the PGA Tour’s signature event, the RBC Heritage. This prestigious event will feature 72 players, including stars like Jason Day, Jordan Spieth, and others, competing for the title. The defending champion, Scottie Scheffler, is also back for more, determined to hold onto his title. With a tidy sum of $3.6 million and 700 FedExCup points up for grabs, these golfing maestros will doubtless give it their all to claim victory. The action unfolds at the picturesque Harbour Town Golf Links on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, where the likes of Spieth, Day, and Scheffler will battle it out for glory. Now, let’s take a gander at the top-5 bets for the tournament.
Scottie Scheffler
Looking to claim his first win, Scheffler is one of the golfers to look forward to at the RBC Heritage. Last year, the #1 joined the field after winning the coveted green jacket. Thanks to his dominance, he was able to claim the title. This will mark his fourth title defense of the season— as if he weren’t already in everyone’s sights.
The last time Scottie Scheffler won was at the 2024 TOUR Championship. However, after a hand injury during Christmas, he has yet to bounce back with a win. Despite that, he has had a decent performance so far. After the masters, the golfer already has four top-10 finishes in seven tournaments. His solo fourth finish with a 69 in the final round especially shows the light that he might win his 14th title this week.
Collin Morikawa
If there’s anyone who can start climbing the leaderboard, it’s Collin Morikawa this season. Including the masters, he has played a total of six events this season. Out of all his appearances, he has three top-10s and three top-20s. At the masters, he was able to finish at T14 despite having a tough final round with four bogeys.
Ranked first on TOUR in Strokes Gained: Approach the Green and SG: Tee to Green, the two-time major winner has the tools to conquer the tight, tree-lined fairways and some of the smallest greens on TOUR. He has never missed the cut in five previous starts at Hilton Head Island, but this week, he might go the extra mile to try and win the title.
Patrick Cantlay
The Californian has a very good history with the RBC Heritage. He’s posted five second-place finishes and two thirds. While Cantlay hasn’t secured a win in seven starts, he does have a runner-up finish from 2022 and four third-place performances. It seems Hilton Head Island favors him in a way. At the same time, he has yet to win a title on the PGA Tour since the 2022 BMW Championship. Considering that, Patrick Cantlay will certainly try to take advantage of the course this week.
Corey Conners
Starting the first round of the masters with a 68, Conners is looking in incredible form this week. Thanks to a T8 at Augusta National, he now leads the PGA TOUR with five top-10 finishes—four of them coming in his last five starts. The Canadian has entered the Hilton Head every time since 2018 and will continue his streak this week.
This season has been a roller coaster for the Canadian golfer. He started off with a strong T5 at the Sentry but missed the cut at the Sony Open. He posted his best finish at the Arnold Palmer, finishing solo third at the tournament. However, after winning the 2023 Valero Texas Open, he is in the race for the third PGA Tour title this week.
Justin Rose
Looking to win his second major title last week, Rose was just a step away. Despite Rory McIlroy having the lead, he was able to force the play off with an incredible birdie putt on 18th. Although he was unable to win the green jacket this week, and finished solo P2. Interestingly, it also remains one of the best finishes of this season. The 11x PGA Tour winner last time won back in 2023 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. It’s true that he remains on a winless streak, but considering his form at the masters, he remains one of the fan favorites this week.
