It looks like Renato Moicano might be following in Sean Strickland’s footsteps soon! The UFC lightweight star, known for his unfiltered persona and ‘cash-targeted’ post-fight speeches, recently threw down the gauntlet for a few lucky, or unlucky, fans. Strickland, the former middleweight champion, has gained a reputation for battering social media stars who show up at his gym looking for a sparring session.
Now, Moicano is raring to do the same, but with a twist. He’s not interested in just beating up on regular people for views, there’s a method to the madness. According to a recent post by Home of Fight on X, it was revealed, “Renato Moicano will spar random fans in his gym and will pay for their flight tickets once Show Me the Money podcast hits 50k followers on Youtube.”
Call it a business strategy with a punch. Literally. From bloodied Navy SEALs to internet stars like Nick Nayersina, ‘Tarzan’ never holds back when they step into his world inside the Octagon. But where Strickland thrives on chaos, Moicano seems to be building something more calculated, but no less violent.
In an interview accompanying the update on X, Moicano was asked, “You think Matty Betts should come train here?”, referencing the co-host of ‘Show Me The Money’ alongside Gilbert Burns. With a cheeky smile, ‘Money Moicano’ responded by stating, “Yeah. 100%, that f— guy is a degenerate, brother. He needs to be more disciplined.”
Then he dropped the bombshell, “We’re going to record a podcast over here on this on this gym, and we’re going to fly out two fans of the podcast to spar over here with me and Gilbert.” Yes, you read that right. A chance for two fans to step into the fire against two men who are known for sending many of their opponents to the shadow realm.
The gym itself is new and sleek. But don’t let the polished floors fool you, Renato Moicano’s not here to play nice. When asked whether he’d go easy on the fans who show up, his answer was quick and ruthless as he stated, “I’m telling you. We’re gonna get over here, and I’m gonna knock you’re a– out, my brother.”

It’s brutal. It’s honest. And it’s on brand for Moicano, who brings the same intensity to his interviews, his fights, and even his podcast banter. As of now, the show sits at 36.9K YouTube subscribers. That’s a little over 13,000 away from sparring season. Sean Strickland showed how chaos can go viral. Renato Moicano’s betting on the same, but with a lot more structure and strategy behind the madness.
Nevertheless, ‘Money Moicano’ may be turning fans into sparring partners, but soon he’ll face a much bigger challenge, one he can’t knock out with podcast hype alone!
Renato Moicano set to finally face Beneil Dariush at UFC 317
At UFC 317, under the blazing lights of the T-Mobile Arena, Renato Moicano will meet Beneil Dariush in a top-10 lightweight showdown. The stage? Las Vegas. The stakes? Redemption.
After a short-notice title shot against Islam Makhachev at UFC 311, Moicano’s four-fight win streak hit a wall. Now, across from him will stand Beneil Dariush. The two were originally penciled in for a clash at UFC 311, but due to Arman Tsarukyan’s last-minute withdrawal, Moicano got the call, and Dariush was left on the sidelines.
In fact, Dariush believes if he had stepped in against Makhachev at UFC 311, things would’ve gone very differently. How? In a recent conversation with MMA Junkie, he explained, “I would’ve won, It would’ve been a finish for sure. It wasn’t gonna go five rounds. The way Makhachev and I fight, it’s not going five rounds.”
It’s bold. But it also adds another layer to Moicano’s comeback trail. The man who claims he could have beaten the very opponent who finished Moicano will now be standing across from him. So what does Moicano have left to prove? Everything. He’s got a podcast to grow, fans to spar, and now, a statement to make at UFC 317. And this time, there’s no short-notice chaos, just two elite lightweights with something to prove and plenty of heat between them.
Will ‘Money Moicano’ cash in when the lights shine brightest? Or will Dariush prove his talk about Makhachev wasn’t just smoke? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
