America is buzzing with the high-pitched excitement of the NBA All-Star weekend, and the Bay Area is lit up with spotlights on the hardwood stars. But while all eyes are on the court, Ayesha Curry’s mother-in-law, Sonya, has found a way to steal the spotlight herself. With an extremely noble gesture, Sonya is not only changing the game for her granddaughter Riley Curry but also for others like her. What’s her big move? Let’s find out.
As the glittery weekend rolled in, Sonya Curry decided to make the most of it by spreading her words of wisdom. And she started with the little ones. In a clip she shared on her Instagram story, Curry was seen encouraging the young minds around her to repeat the phrase, “My heart is my superpower,” after her. She wanted them to understand from an early age the importance of inner strength, teaching them that with love and positivity, they could overcome any struggles they may face in the future.
Curry further explained, “No matter what other people are telling you, or maybe some not so nice things that you tell yourself in your head and think about, you just always remember that your super power comes from your heart.” The 72.8 million American children would benefit immensely from the emotional advice Sonya offered.
Sonya wasn’t the only one making a statement this weekend. Stephen and Ayesha Curry are also doing their part to make an off-court impact during the All-Star weekend, using their influence and commitment to giving back.
A sneak peek into Stephen and Ayesha Curry’s impactful All-Star weekend in their “home”
The All-Star weekend is happening in the Bay Area, where it all began for both Stephen and Ayesha Curry. So, they decided to be the unofficial hosts for the fun-filled three days. Their weekend kicked off with a day of service and a playground renovation at an Oakland elementary school, organized by their Eat. Learn. Play. Foundation. What’s better than helping schools and kids? “We have an amazing team behind us that is taking the direction and the commitment that Ayesha and I have to Oakland and leverage that to create amazing impact,” Steph told The Associated Press.
They also reflected on their strong, deep-rooted connection with the city. “This is where we both became adults, where we started our life together, where we had our first child. And so for us, Oakland has always left this enormous impact on our spirits,” Ayesha stated. “And we’ve always said that we would continue to be a part of the community, even if we weren’t necessarily right in Oakland every single day.”
Curry started his journey with the Warriors when the franchise was based in the Oracle Arena. Due to a lack of modern amenities, practice facilities, and other major factors, the team had to find a new home at Chase Center in 2019. Even Ayesha had to close her store recently in Oakland, which allegedly was due to the safety issue.
But now they are back in the city, where a piece of their hearts belong. To confirm that Curry added, “We do plan on staying here after basketball’s done” and admitted, “It’s definitely home.”

Along with the incredible work the pair is doing off the court, there’s expected to be plenty of excitement on the court too. For that, make sure to tune in on Sunday for the real highlight of the weekend, the All-Star Game.
The stage will be set in just a few hours, and the final show of the event will feature Curry teaming up with LeBron James, Kevin Durant, and others. While they couldn’t make it happen in the NBA, their pairing will definitely be a must-watch here. But which event are you most looking forward to? Let us know in the comments below!
