Another unforgettable moment came at Daytona in 1988. Bobby Allison and his son Davey Allison battled for victory in the prestigious Daytona 500. The two raced side by side at the front of the field, showcasing both Bobby’s experience and Davey’s rising talent. In an emotional finish for the family, Bobby emerged victorious, with Davey finishing second. In the most heartbreakingly poetic way possible, this was Bobby Allison’s last win. He suffered a near life-ending crash at Pocono in June of that season, and never returned to racing again, shifting his focus to being a team owner.
