San Deigo Wave were having their regular team meeting to discuss their ongoing NWSL season. All players sitting, facing a big TV screen watching their previous match. Toward the end of the brainstorming session, everyone seemed to be leaving until goalkeeper Kailen Sheridan stood up from her seat to come in front of everyone. One of the team’s assistant coaches addresses everyone that she has an announcement to make.
“Umm, pretty fun news,” begins Kailen Sheridan. “A lot of you know my wife Don and if you don’t you’ll soon. She’ll be around, make herself known soon.” At this point, guesses were locked in, but before one could have any more to think, the Canadian international whips out a small black baby suit in front of everyone, “But we wanted to announce that we’re pregnant.”
The whole room erupts with joy, cheering and clapping for their No. 1 goalie. Further adding, Sheridan begins, “We’re really excited to have a new teammate joining us this year.” Interestingly, the 29-year-old proceeds to showcase the front of the baby suit where the San Diego Wave was engraved in an adorable font. The whole room went in awe again.
