“12s, I have been gone from the field for some time now. But I am back now. And I am more determined than ever to be a player that you can depend on and believe in.” In 2023, during the game against the Cardinals in Week 7, Seahawks LB Uchenna Nwosu suffered a pectoral injury that ended his season right there and then. Last year, when Nwosu made his comeback after the injury this season, he was not expecting another injury curveball.
Nwosu was ready to take on the gridiron, but his knee injury limited him. According to reports, the 28-year-old was dealing with a knee issue, a thigh injury, and a quadriceps injury. The LB played in only six games during the 2024 season. Over the last two seasons, Uchenna has appeared in just 12 games.
So, after a relatively quiet stretch because of limited game time, GM John Schneider has provided an update on the LB. A few reports claimed last week that the Seahawks LB underwent surgery, but the details were unclear. Now, speaking to Seattle Sports, Schneider revealed that Nwosu “had a little knee deal.” Schneider also added that Nwosu has been “rehabbing like crazy.”
Seahawks GM John Schneider tells @BobStelton and Dave Wyman on @SeattleSports that Uchenna Nwosu’s surgery was on his knee. He mentioned last week that Nwosu had surgery but didn’t specify what it was on.

During the 2024 season, Uchenna recorded 8 solo tackles in six games. The USC alum registered one sack, 0 forced fumbles, and 0 interceptions. Before his pectoral injury in 2023, the LB had signed a three-year, $45 million contract extension with the Seahawks.
But this offseason, the LB agreed to restructure his deal after two injury-plagued seasons. His new deal includes a $6.99 million pay cut. However, Nwosu could earn up to $5 million through incentives and escalators.
So, while Nwosu is working his way back with a restructured deal, Seahawks HC Mike Macdonald and John look to add more firepower to the offensive lineup.
John Schneider eyes OL upgrade for Seahawks’ offense
In the second week of March, John Schneider and the team made two critical additions to the roster. They signed WR Cooper Kupp to a three-year, $45 million contract and also brought in ex-Cowboys DE DeMarcus Lawrence on a three-year, $42 million deal. After adding Cooper Kupp to the O-line, the team now looks to add another offensive player.
During his weekly show on Seattle Sports 710, John Schneider shared that the team recently hosted the Jaguars‘ offensive lineman Cole Van Lanen. Cole is a restricted free agent, meaning the Jaguars can match any offer he receives from another team. If they choose not to match the offer, they will get a draft pick as compensation, equal to the round where Van Lanen was originally drafted.
The Packers originally drafted the Wisconsin alumnus as the 214th pick in 2021. Although he hardly saw any action during his rookie year, Cole played only one snap in a game against the Ravens. The rest of the time, he was just on the practice squad. The following year, Green Bay traded Cole Van Lanen to the Jaguars for a seventh-round draft pick.
During his three seasons with the Jaguars, the OL played in 34 games, starting three times last season. The 26-year-old has experience at both tackle and guard positions.
