Sending a Message to Nike, Jordan Chiles Makes Emotional Confession Involving A’Ja Wilson

How do you know if someone is a sneakerhead? Well, have Jordan in your name. If you think we are kidding, then let us introduce you to Jordan Chiles. After all, she has been crazy about sneakers since she was a toddler. She was even named after NBA legend Michael Jordan, whose name adorns the hearts and soles of all Sneakerheads. What started as just Gina Chiles buying mini shoes for little Jordan has now blown up to be a full-scale hobby. But now that Chiles has gone on to become a global sensation of her own, she would love to be part of a Nike collab with MJ. But till that dream gets fulfilled, she has another name on her mind.

In a recent YouTube video uploaded by Bleacher Report, Chiles reflected on her interest in sneakers. While she understood that getting a collaboration with MJ might not be possible, the Olympic gold medalist was okay to go with A’Ja Wilson. Speaking on the same, Chiles also put forth her wish that she thinks that the mental wavelengths of both athletes have a special connection.

Thus, it was pretty much possible that Wilson, along with Chiles, might create a “pretty dope” shoe. But that’s not all. Jordan Chiles has come back stronger amidst her controversial Paris Olympics. Her recent “You Can’t Win. So Win.” campaign from Nike has attempted to throw shade on the bronze medal fiasco. And guess who else was there in the campaign to support her? Well, it was none other than A’Ja Wilson.

Detailing her rapport with Wilson, Chiles stated, sending a message to Nike, “I was able to come back stronger and be independent and just Stand My Ground of who I am and standing your ground of who you are and being who you are at all times. I think the thing that I was so impressed with being A’Ja’s teammate is that she was always unapologetically herself.” Now, Chiles did not pull out A’Ja Wilson’s name out of the blue.

The basketball star and the gymnast share a special bond. In a recent collaboration, both women shot for TIMES Women of the Year. And it was one of the most enriching experiences for Chiles. Especially working with A’Ja Wilson. “I’m very thankful, I’m very honored, and to do it with A’Ja, it was just even more, amazing because she has done so much within her life as well, and seeing the recognition in women’s sports,” said Chiles.

She further continued, “And people are being able to understand that we don’t just get to wake up and be this beautiful thing; we also do go through a lot, whether it’s mentally physically, or emotionally, so it was just a really good feeling, and I’m very proud of myself.” Surely, this details the sisterly bond between the two. Apart from this, Chiles also expressed her emotions about how she felt receiving the honor.

Chiles stated that it was a magical feeling for her to be featured as one of the top 100 females. Especially, when she saw her idols like Beyonce a part of the same, the Olympian got more emotional. Meanwhile, it is not only Jordan who is appreciative of Wilson. A’Ja Wilson too supported Chiles during her Paris controversy.

A’Ja Wilson shares bold take on Jordan Chiles’s Olympic bronze medal controversy

“Stop playing me. What kind of question is that? Yes. It’s a no-brainer.” A’Ja Wilson didn’t hold back when asked whether Jordan Chiles deserved the bronze medal in Paris. The WNBA star’s reaction wasn’t just supportive. Rather, it was fierce, direct, and protective. Wilson’s blunt verdict came after Chiles’ bronze in the individual floor exercise was rescinded following a scoring inquiry.

For Wilson, the decision was personal. “I was pissed. Honestly, I prayed for you,” she admitted to Chiles while having a conversation with Time. A’Ja wasn’t just speaking as a fellow athlete. More so because she understood exactly what it meant to have a hard-fought victory taken away. A’Ja’s frustration wasn’t just about the medal. But it was about Jordan’s undeniable effort and talent.

Recognizing the hard work that Chiles had to put in as an Olympian, Wilson added, “I know those moments are hard—and here I go, about to cry—you worked your ass off to get to that.”  Her words weren’t just about solidarity. “You’re fully equipped, and God’s going to always have you no matter what,” Wilson added, being super supportive of Jordan. A’Ja did not just stand up for Chiles. But she made one thing clear. Greatness can’t be erased by a score revision.
